What movie do you love that most people never heard of or seen? Mine is a movie called "Evenhand". I first saw it on IFC, then ordered a copy from Amazon. It is about two policemen in a small Texas town. One is meek and kind while the other is hard. They form a unlikley friendship. It is more plot driven, with little violence. The writing is pretty good.
Great movie.
The Wrong Box with Michael Caine and Peter Sellers.
But your question got me thinking. The Plot Against Harry was a 1960s gangster comedy that sank without a trace.
Twenty years later in 1989, it was rediscovered and reopened in theaters to much acclaim.
It was a lost gem, unfairly neglected and now finally discovered and restored to its rightful place in film history.
Now another twenty years have passed and in all those years I haven't heard a peep about it. Not one. Ever.
What gives? Was the past right to consign it to oblivion after all? Or does everything sooner or later end up there?
Just thought of an addition:
Winter’s Bone
Hard to watch but very good.
