This scene, when I saw it for the first time as a kid, cut deep, still moves me today:
Death of a Soldier ...
A dying wish given without words, a simple pleasure, the last memory of home, a smoke of tobacco.
What are some of the ones you remember ?
Wow, so many good ones.
The first one I thought of was in Toy Story 3. At the end, when the little girl tries to take Woody, and Andy pulls him back. But there are more.
Hold on there - you're not supposed to watch that for another 4 years. You should still be on "Winds of War," where Natalie is played by Ali McGraw.
On second thought, you can skip past that part if you want.
In “The Blindside” when Michael runs away after the NCAA hearing, and then he calls Sandra Bullock on the phone he says “Mama.”
If you’re foolish I am too, I love While You Were Sleeping. Defines romantic comedy. One moment that has nothing to do with the plot but always makes me laugh (laughing right now) is the kid delivering newspapers. The way he whips himself right off his bike on the icy sidewalk - first time we saw it we had to watch him do it about a half dozen times.
Schindler’s List, when Liam Nesson drops to his knees because he feels he has not done enough to save his worker’s. “How many, how many for this ring?” And then the end, when they show the real people that he saved placing the stones on his grave.
Okay, tears rolling down my face now just thinking about it.
Schindler’s List, when Liam Neeson drops to his knees because he feels he has not done enough to save his worker’s. “How many, how many for this ring?” And then the end, when they show the real people that he saved placing the stones on his grave.
Okay, tears rolling down my face now just thinking about it.
So many good moments in that movie! Tom Hanks’ mom saying to her granddaughter, “Don’t worry, honey, if they could make a washing machine fly, my Jimmy could land it.” And again his mom - her smile at the end, when they know all is fine, is just beautiful, completely transforms her face.

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness when the villagers hear the orphans singing, “This Old Man” as Gladys, the woman who was told she wasn’t qualified to be a missionary, leads the children to safety. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKDtm-PchFI
Another reason that movie was so powerful was the very beautiful, and emotional music score written by John Barry.
Final scene in Resurrection, with Ellen Burstyn.
Limited internet usage available here but LOVE that!
-There’s a deleted scene on the “We Were Soldiers” dvd where a chapel scene back home is interspersed with the men flying into combat.
The wife is singing “My Hope is Built” and breaks down crying and the rest of the congregants join in singing with her.
-In “Passion of the Christ” Jesus stumbles while carrying the cross, catches Mary’s eye and says “Behold I make all things new”
- “Tin Cup” when Costner sinks the shot after losing all his remaining balls on the same shot previously
Ditto
Death scene of Boromir in Fellowhip of the Ring.
Tearing up as I type this in.
The music added so much. It was the perfect touch to this movie. I actually went to the Grand Hotel and saw where they filmed it.
“War and Remembrance” is probably still the most gut-wrenching portrayal of the Holocaust, for a Made-For-Network-TV series, it pulled few punches, those scenes will never leave me.
