This thread -- Strictly for sports and basketball fans.

I'm personally happy for Jason Kidd. It was a 17 year wait which finally paid off.

He played near my neck of the woods and led the New Jersey Nets to 2 NBA finals, but never won.

This time he did. He can now retire in peace if he wishes.

Go win the Olympics and tell me you’re “world champs.”

NBA’s best can’t even make the gold medal game.

Looks like LeBron James took another 4th Qtr. nap & the MAVS wiped the floor with him.

Congratulations to the MAVS, Mark Cuban & their fans!

I’m right there with you. Jason Kidd went to my high school. Although he has had some personal problems off the court, he has always played and acted like a professional. So glad he is going into the Hall of Fame someday with a ring....

Nice to see Dallas take it all.

I am not a huge Kidd fan but he certainly has been a great player from the time he started. Was it really 17 years ago?

Of course, I can expect the Dallas fans at DFW to be quite insufferable — but in that nice Dallas way.

And I will be one of them at this time next year...

The Lebron Brand took a big, big hit this series. Why are companies paying this unlikeable choker millions to endorse their products?

Way to go Mavs! Thanks Dirk!!

I think they should have little, mini trampolines in professional basketball.

Maybe all the idiot commentators will stop comparing LBJ to MJ for a few weeks. Lebron is NOT THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER.

I am almost ashamed of how great I feel that LeLoser didn’t win this year.

This has been a great, great week. First Weiner and now Loser, can’t think of anything that could make it better.

FReepers: Please sincerely pray to Almighty God that the Metroplex is spared the violence and riots that have become all too typical when an area team wins a championship.

I'm enjoying tonight's win immensely. A championship trophy is long overdue for our town (the last was way back in June 1999 when the Stars won the Stanley Cup).

I'm praying that an article in "News/Activism" doesn't mar a good thing with a story about flash mobs of yutes and thugs going feral.

I am so thrilled to see those three punks go down in flames. I hope LeBron never wins a title. I hate Mark Cuban much, more, but I don’t care. I am so happy for Jason Kidd, who deserves this most of all.

In the first game they showed Dirk (naturalized citizen) with his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, LeBron didn’t. Series could not have ended better.

The way the Mavs handled my Lakers lead me to suspect they were going to win it all. I can’t say much good about Cuban but I do love the way the Mavericks play the game. Strong D, get the ball up the court for easy hoops, move the ball in the half court set, and great team shooting.

Of course winning one is the easy part. Two in a row is the real trick.

Great game! Popcorn all over the house in celebration. They pulled away beautifully from what looked like a really close game. Roh! Roh! Roh!

I haven’t seen the Heat all season, but this series shows that they’re still completely Dwayne Wade’s team. He was the best player on either team during the series, followed by Nowitzki. Lebron looks like he’s afraid to do anything out there.
