Conservation Experts: This Size Cat Hasn't Been Seen Here In 100 Years. There has been a wild animal alert issued in the northern suburbs. A mountain lion, yes, a mountain lion, is on the loose.
...
Were not looking for your Aunt Mildreds kitty here, either. This is a big cat, a 160-pound predator that hunts and eats things.
...
Ironically the Eastern mountain lion was officially declared extinct only a few months ago in March.

Well, now we've got a bear!
[gvt official] That's not a bear. It's just a Newfoundland with mange. Nothing to worry about. [/gvt official]

Yeah, they skipped recess on a nice day last week because of a bear sighting in my town. Our town is tiny, just about all the town buildings are next to each other, the school is across the street from the police/fire station, so both coppers kept a “look out” in the recreation field while the teachers kept the kids in class, using the rainy day drill. No news of whether or not Andy issued Barney a bullet.

“Well, now we’ve got a bear!”
So all you need for the hat trick are tigers. You have the lions and bears. (Oh my!)

Here we go againnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....'Credible' Report Of Mountain Lion In Fairfield
We're stackin' 'em up like cordwood.
Wondering what makes this guy's sighting more *credible* than anyone else's? Every sighting is routinely poo-pooed by the DEP: "DEP spokesman Dennis Schain said the agency investigates all reports, but has not substantiated any sightings. DEP also continues to believe the mountain lion killed in Milford had been in captivity but escaped into the wild. There is no native mountain lion population in the state, Schain said."

They parse their words on it carefully.
They state that the ‘eastern’ mountain lion is extinct, so ‘obviously’ any that are seen are either an exotic pet let loose or a fabrication.
Then they go on their merry way and ignore any evidence to the contrary.

Classic obfuscation. Like the last one... someone will nail it with their car. This CT DEP likes egg on their face...it's what they do best.

New York swears that they aren’t here either.
But at least five have been spotted over the past fifteen years.
