This FPS Russia kid is pretty hilarious. He has a number of similar videos out with other hardware - AKs, ARs, specialty shotgun shells, etc.

Funny thing, after years of watching the 40mm on Victory at Sea with the alternating barrels, was shocked to see the two barrels pounding out in synch. Sure there was a reason for it all............
Points of interest:
1. Loader holds 8 rounds of 40mm ammunition. The switch on the back of the loader allows the gunner to fire all 8 rounds in the loader (requires a manual reload to push rounds through star wheels to replenish the loader) or to fire six rounds and stop (thereby avoiding a manual reload and the gun will resume firing when a clip of 4 rounds is dropped into the loader).
2. Gun cyclic rate is 120 to 160 rounds per minute. The D-shaped brass plate on the empty case chute (below the loader) has an indicator that tells the length of the recoil impulse. This assures the gun is cycling within its 120 to 160 rpm rate.
3. The left side has the stand for the 1st loader. He pushes the initial 8 rounds into the loader after he uses the long lever to cock the gun and lower the breech block. The safety selector — SAFE, SEMI, AUTO — is located here. The 1st loader has a ready rack of ammo to load the loader in case the 2nd loader is slow in passing ammo to him or is breaking out more rounds. The 2nd loader removes the clips of 4 rounds (4 clips per can) from the 116 pound ammunition cans. The 2nd loader passes ready rounds in clips of four to the 1st loader.
4. The right side is the gunner's station. He controls the drives for elevation and traverse — in manual or power. (He controls the auxiliary power unit that runs the drives for power elevation and traverse.) He also fires the gun with his left foot by pushing the firing pedal.
This would be an awesome piece of ordnance to own and shoot, but the cost of the ammunition would bankrupt you. Also, you need a very good range to contain the rounds; maximum effective range is 2,200 yards [maximum range (@45 degrees) is 11,100 yards].
Differences in firing time of the Bofors you saw in Victory at Sea films is accounted for by differences in the cyclic rate or pauses caused by fumbled replenishment of the loader. Each 40mm gun cycles independently of the others. Cyclic rate on all WW2 Bofors guns is adjustable from 120 to 160 rounds per minute. Rate is controlled by adjusting the recoil cylinder throttling setting. The recoil cylinder is located beneath the barrel.
Most Bofors guns were set at 120 rpm. Even at this “leisurely” rate the loaders were hard pressed to keep up with the guns. Boosting the cyclic rate for the guns only made keeping up with the guns worse for the 1st and 2nd loaders.
Also, twin and quad guns we setup so they would only fire 6 of the 8 rounds in the loader. The gun would automatically stop until the 1st loader dropped another clip of 4 rounds into the loader (the gun then resumed firing). Twin and quad guns were water-cooled; single guns were air-cooled. Single guns also had a switch on the loader that would stop the gun at 6 rounds (like a twin or quad) or fire all 8 in the loader and run the gun out of ammo.
