GREENVILLE, S.C. -- An abandoned dog is recovering after his eyes were gouged out.
The North Greenville Animal Hospital had to remove both eyes of the 2-year-old dog.
"This dog really didn't have any other injuries, so we wonder if it's an abuse situation where someone actually traumatized the eyes," said Dr. Ann Malphrus of North Greenville Animal Hospital.
Malphrus works with Noah's Arks Rescue, an organization that adopts injured and abused animals in order to get them care and help them find permanent homes.
The spitz, who has been named Gandolf, was picked up by Greenville Animal Control officers after someone saw the injured dog wandering. Animal Control notified Noah's Ark of the dog's injuries.

Not just you believe that, God does, too. Having dominion doesn’t mean just ruling, but tending, as well. Ensuring the prosperity and health, if you will.
“And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
“And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.”
I went to the Noah’s Ark Rescues website and donated as much money as I could spare to support the work they are doing in healing Gandolf, and others like him. They accept paypal and it was very easy:

Wow - that was really sweet. I had never heard of them before this incident but it looks like they do a lot of good work for abused dogs. May God bless you for your compassion.
Thank you so much! When someone does something that is truly wicked — such as hurting an innocent creature — then the rest of us can help to overcome the wickedness through prayer or whatever other resources we have, so that good comes out of the harm that has been done.
Mine do the same, esp. after marinading meats.
Outrageous and utterly sick. I can’t publicly say what I really feel.
I hope whoever did this has THEIR effing eyes gouged out, too.
Like the Good Book says, an eye for an eye.....
This is sickening. If whoever did this could treat an animal in such a fashion, what could he do to a human being? I really hope the authorities catch the perp.
I will not read this article——would ruin my day.
I hope he is caught and punished with the max!
>I really hope the authorities catch the perp.<
Guess not. So the po-leece will ignore this act.
From the article:
An animal cruelty investigation is not being conducted because Animal Control officers do not know who Gandolf belonged to.
Expression of my thoughts would probably lead to my arrest and conviction. Any person who finds pleasuere in cruelty needs to be excised like the cancer they are.
Carl made a lot of sense!
That’s great that you donated to Noah’s Arks. It’s a phenomenal rescue group. I’d gotten an email from her about this dog seeing as I don’t live that far away and am in rescue too. She only takes in abused dogs. It’s surprising just how many abused dogs there really are. Most we don’t hear about. The lucky ones make it to Noah’s Arks.
She does amazing things for the pets she takes in. Spares no expense. Whatever the dogs needs, he gets and it’s top of the line care too. Noah’s Arks is well known and well thought of in this area.
I haven’t lived here that long and didn’t know about them, but I went to the website and it seems like an amazing organization. It’s good to know there are such kind-hearted people left.
I was so moved by the image of Gandolf at the website, and so horrified that there is someone out there capable of doing such a thing, that I had to do something. They are really doing God’s work there. You are right that we don’t hear about most abused dogs. But thankfully, we heard about this one.
Just post the full name and location....
