Please pray for Freeper SandRat who took a fall from his roof today.
FR "DesertCoyote" posted this on the Canteen thread tonight...
I just wanted to let you guys know that SandRat is in the hospital. He fell off the roof changing out the pads in the swamp cooler and lost his footing and fell about 4-5 feet. Apparently he was unconscious for a while and when he woke up, he drove himself to the hospital. He has 8 broken ribs and a concussion. He is being transferred up to University Medical Center in Tucson for a Neurology evaluation. Will keep you guys posted since this is a specific request from Sandrat.
Thank you everyone...
Thanks.
Prayers for a clear head and fast recovery for Sandrat. Thank you Lord for what you will do in Jesus’ name.
Prayers
OH no! Sandy .. how awful. So sorry to hear this.
I pray you have wise docs who monitor you well and
fix you all up. God bless you with complete healing.
My Lord, I can’t imagine driving yourself to the hospital.
Prayers up. God be with you and.
Prayer’s up for SandRat. May God hold you and heal you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
A swamp cooler is a “desert” thing. It’s the A/C that sits atop your roof, that has straw pads on the sides that water runs over and “cools” the air through. It’s also called an evaporative cooler. Only works with zero humidity.
PRAYER BUMP !!
I’m sorry to see this. You’ve got to be in a lot of pain. Take it easy, FRiend.
What he (Buck) said. In Arizona and NM, and parts of Texas, evaporative coolers can drop inside temps over 25F from outside temps. And provide serious hydrating moisture to the lungs and skin. When it's 115F outside, and you can get it to 95F inside, and have the air loaded with water, that's a darn good thing. And much cheaper to run than a regular A/C.
Today, mostly cantankerous old crumudgeons own swamp coolers and live in parts of the world that most folks would consider and (actually) find deadly to someone unprepared and clueless.
They would also climb up on the roof to change filters and get hurt and drive themselves to the hospital.
It's the American way.

Prayers Up!
thanks for the info...may God grant healing and a speedy recovery to sandrat, a fellow freeper... I do belive you’ve got to be more careful as the years drift by.. I know, I’m still using a cane to get around, the deck I was building was only 10 feet high....
Sandrat is a tough guy. Here’s prayers for his recovery. I look forward to his next post.
Sand rat,
Hope you heal up fast.
I’m on my roof all the time either blowing leaves out of the gutter or chimney sweeping my stovepipe. I often figure it’s only a matter of time before I’m hanging from a gutter. ...Which I’ll probably still be holding in my hands when I thud on the ground.
FRegards,
LH
