Very good phone interview going on right now on Greta's show.

Trump is venturing into foreign policy.

So far so good.

Makes sense to me. His doctrine is fundamental change from Freedom and Free Markets to Communism and Public Markets.

Trump will say anything to get attention. He knows the suckers are listening.

FWIW, Sometimes silence is NOT golden. Like it or not, there are many concerns (not just birth certificate) many of us have that the neutered RINOs are content to accept and not question or discuss (like Rove, Romney, Huckabee, et al). THAT is a problem! For all anyone knows, Trump may not even run for president, but he IS asking questions and many of us are appreciative he is doing so.

You can rudely call inquisitive people "suckers," or you can attempt to comprehend we, the people, are thankful there is someone willing to ask questions that no one else is willing to ask on our behalf.

"You should NEVER compare Donald Trump to Ronald Reagan. The two aren't comparable in any way, shape or form."

"Reagan began his political career as a liberal Democrat, admirer of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and active supporter of New Deal policies, but in the early 1950s he shifted to the right and, while remaining a Democrat, endorsed the presidential candidacies of [ 54] Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956 as well as Richard Nixon in 1960.[ 54] His many His many GE speeches—which he wrote himself—were non-partisan but carried a conservative pro-business message; he was influenced by Lemuel Boulware, a senior GE executive Boulware, known for his tough stance against unions and his innovative strategies to win over workers, championed the core tenets of modern American conservatism: free[ 55] markets, anticommunism, lower taxes, and limited government.[ 55] E markets, anticommunism, lower taxes, and limited government. "

A few parallels there.

Reagan changed...big time. People can...and do change their political philosophies.

Rudely? Hardly!

Real conservatives don't waste their time defending and supporting liberals. Trump is a big government liberal and has been for his entire life. Do your homework. He's pro-abortion, pro gun control, supports universal health care, broad based amnesty, and special laws for hate crimes against homos. Those are very liberal positions and NOT in keeping with the limited government, life and liberty agenda of FRee Republic.

Since his appearance at CPAC, just two months ago in February, Trump has morphed into the biggest political charlatan in recent memory. Trump is saying what you want to hear him say. Trump is a provocateur and a political neophyte. Not to mention a bottom feeder.

That Wikipedia post looks a lot like something I posted on FR about 10 years ago. LOL

>>>>>"Reagan began his political career as a liberal Democrat, admirer of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and active supporter of New Deal policies...

True. So did Marion Morrison, aka. John Wayne. BFD!

I think it was Churchill who said: If you are not a liberal at the age of 20, you have no heart. If you are not a conservitive by the age of 40, you have no brain.

Reagan started his political change at about age 40, in 1951. Maybe as early as 1948-1949 after first meeting Nancy Reagan and later getting to know her conservative Father very well. Reagan said his first distaste for the Democratic Party agenda began with his disdain for paying 90% federal income tax rates. I'd say after Truman's 1948 election, Reagan never looked back. Btw, Reagan wanted to switch parties in 1960, but Nixon asked him to give his support to the GOP ticket as a Democrat.

Donald Trump will be 65 years old in June. What took him so long to become a conservative? You really think his political conversion at CPAC2011 was the real deal?

People need to wake up. Trump is a phony and a fraud.

Yes, Reagan changed, but by the time the Republican party was considering him for President in 1976 and 1980 he had a LONG track record of conservative credentials, political office, speeches, writings, etc. Reagan's conversion to conservatism wasn't out of convenience, or some quick shift to win some primaries to grab a nomination. Reagan talked the talk and walked the walk. Republicans knew when they nominated him not only what policies he said he'd implement, but what policies he already had implemented and championed in the past.

Trump's past is largely populist left. There is no record of conservatism thought, discussion, writings, etc. He pals around with northeastern liberals, he's best friends with folks like Chuck Schumer, hes contributed massive amounts of money to the most liberal of Democrats, hes argued for Canadian style socialized health care, etc, etc.

There is no reason to believe Trump is a conservative at this point. None. 10 years from now if he is still consistently saying conservative things, giving money to conservative causes, writing articles/books about conservative policy, etc, etc, then, and only then, it would be reasonable to start believing he has gone through a real political transformation.

Well said.

It is revolting seeing supposed conservatives here comparing a phony like Donald Trump to a genuine conservative intellectual and leader like Ronald Reagan.

I guess this goes to show that, even on the right where you'd think people would know better, there are still an enormous amount of suckers who will fall for con men like Trump.

Not only suckers willing to be conned, but people who were never a conservative to start with.

Its like when Reagan ran against Ford in 76. Republicans began jumping on the Reagan bandwagon. By 1980 you had so-called moderates, liberals and even Democrats following Reagan in his crusade to restore America. The road to victory was sweet in 80,84 and 88.

Once Reagan left office many Republicans dropped the conservative pretense and reverted back to old ways. Some took longer than others. Bush41 caved within 2 years. McCain lasted a bit longer. Gingrich went off the reservation and hasn't really returned. Bob Dole kept collecting the tax money.

We can do better. Maybe its time to start thinking about building that Conservative Party, once and for all.

Congressman Hunter, arguably, would have been the finest president America has ever be graced with. Better even than Reagan.

Better even than Reagan? Oh Please. Hunter had his shot and didn't go anywhere. Trump is no savior either. We know nothing of him. No record to run on. Kinda like Obama.

Trump is saying what you want to hear him say.

Don't you DARE insinuate I'm not a real conservative. YOU are not my judge and never will be.

REAL conservatives educate all issues thoroughly, and this is an issue, one that is an affront to the US Constitution and its rules. I never endorsed Trump, nor anyone else.

By the way, perhaps you want to copy your tirade to Rush Limbaugh who is, like me, listening to Trump and others. Freedom of speech entails comprehending as much as our minds can handle to learn. You sir, can take the Karl Rove road if you want, but you will never force me to join you.

I didn't insinuate anything. I stated a fact that apparently struck a nerve with you. Good.

>>>>> REAL conservatives educate all issues thoroughly...

You need to get busy on the Trump issue. I helped you as far as I can go.

Been listening to Rush for 21 years and he's always been pro-life, pro-gun and opposed to big government run health care. Which is more than I can say for TheDonald.

Btw, Rove sucks.

Current crop of Republicans are all eunuchs; spineless, gutless wimps.

Someone in DC better find a supply of testosterone for the likes of Boner, et al.

I don’t know if his political “conversion” is the real deal. Apparently, he’s been a Republican, then an Independent, then a Democrat...and now, allegedly a Republican again.
