ATLANTA -- Two Delta Airlines employees were attacked on a MARTA train
MARTA police said they were investigating the incident. A witness said he watched the violent attack unfold Sunday.
"We were intimidated. Everyone was terrified. People were trying to run, but there was nowhere to run," the man, who requested anonymity, told Channel 2's Erica Byfield.
Around midnight, a MARTA train pulled up to the Garnett Station in Downtown Atlanta, authorities said. The witness said up to 30 people boarded the southbound train.
"Once the doors opened, it was like a bum rush of people," he told Byfield. "The next thing you know, they started just beating him. There was blood everywhere. People were hollering and screaming," he said.
A MARTA police report identified two victims as Delta Airlines employees. The report said one victim had a soda can smashed in his face and his wallet stolen, while the other was punched repeatedly in his face.
The witness said the attackers were teens chanting "B. F. P. L."
"I don't know if that's a gang," the witness said.
By the time the train made it to West End stop, some riders were desperate to get off, but the car doors would not open, the witness said.
"So basically we were just trapped," he said.

If you have a permit, you can pack heat on MARTA.
>>in a confined space with a large number of people, I could never make a good decision about the use of a firearm.<<
One through the floor brings anyone advancing towards you into slow motion. That big question flashes across their mind, “Is this worth dying for?”
Many ammo brands have rounds which will not penetrate a perp. Just avoid the old FMJ cheap white box stuff From WallyWorld. Better yet, avoid Skippy, the Walmart ammo salesman and patronize your local gunshop.
PS Consider advanced training, and from local instructors to traveling to a Profire or Frontsight course, there are lots of options.
I would never ride MARTA at that time of night, especially on a weekend, and I always carry on MARTA.
Animals.
Carry on MARTA is legal. On a related note, even the City of Atlanta has admitted that carry in non-sterile areas of the airport is legal.
I see stuff like that, and I am reminded that I’ve been intending to get to a gun show and pick up a cheap SKS carbine for a trunk gun. That and several stripper clips full would make me better prepared for an impromptu party by those a*******.
We’ve had legal concealed carry for longer than you guys, and they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are lots of GA CCW holders.
When traveling by myself I’ve made it a point, using freeways, to drive around big cities.
The last long trip was San Angelo, TX, to southwest Washington State. Could have taken back roads but the interstates are quicker.
We need to work on our states to allow reciprocity.
There are plenty of nice areas in the ‘burbs. Heck, the North Atlanta ‘burbs are the GA 6th, Newt’s old district. They also include Kennesaw.

BFPL??
MARTA...
(used to cal it this in 2000...)
“MOVING AFRICAN-AMERICANS RAPIDLY THRU ATLANTA...”
Hey, Blacks...you PROUD now?
The last 15 would trip over the first 15 bodies as I changed magazines hopefully ...but then I don’t dwell where such feral acts go unanswered .... Small towns police themselves very well.
Pray I never encounter such an attack armed with just a sidearm but even with such a self defense tool I don’t go to the ATM at 0300 local time in a bad part of town.
Bet these folks share a cab next time.
Public transportation is a joke.
A fault line not far from me and many like me....bout 12 miles se separated by the Chattahoochie. Folks like me, natives and hard working transplants, have had it. One of these times these punk azz are gonna pull this against the wrong group of people, and the PTB will turn a blind eye to the “unleashing of dogs”.
So be it.
Any attack on me will be viewed as attempted murder and I will shoot you at least two times. Quickly.
Makes a great case for hi-cap magazines, doesn’t it?
Or in my case, A Glock mod 20 with three extra magazines. One shot per customer. Everyone gets a turn.
“The report said one victim had a soda can smashed in his face and his wallet stolen, while the other was punched repeatedly in his face.”
I don’t understand. Why didn’t they just dial 911? Was there no phone service? I wish 0bama would close the soda can show loop!
loop = loop hole. yeah, yeah...
You are wise to do so. Unfortunately, none of our large cities are safe anymore...for obvious reasons.
