My middle son is a (straight) professional actor in a major metropolitan area. He asked me to name my favorite movie fights/action pics of all time. I figured I'd put it to the FReeper community of military, martial arts, movie buffs and various masters of mayhem to help come up with the best of the best.
Little bit of useless trivia, that scene in Indiana Jones was unscripted. Indiana was supposed to fight that guy but he had the flu (in real life) and decided he’d had enough, so he shot him.
Saw this flick in a movie theater. At the end...the entire audience was standing up screaming for Rocky to finish off Apollo....and then a huge groan when the final bell rang. I even heard shouts of "SHORT ROUND"!!
At a movie no less!!!
When a film can generate that, it has achieved it's goal!
I liked the fight scene in the Bourne Identity with the other assassin - had a real “feel” to it..... (I think that is the right movie)
John Wayne and Victor Mclagen fight in “The Quiet Man”
Sho’nuff. That is one cheezy movie. It qualifies as a guilty pleasure.
This is an excellent clip. I’ve never seen El Cid (I’m embarrassed to say.) I’ll have to get it on netflix soon.
DANNY THE DOG aka Unleashed (2005)
Christian Bale in “Equilibrium.” Any of a dozen fights but especially the “gun katas”.
john carpenter ... two guys are fighting one another . the white guy wants the black guy to put on a pair of glasses and the black guy doesn’t want to put them on
Excellent! Watched two of these with my dad. What battles they were!
I love that movie and am a huge Bronson fan. I picked the steel cage match, but the last fight is truly awesome. Bronson was unbelievably cut for that movie and he was in his 50’s. He didn’t need a lot of lines - just watching him in action was great.
Last Man Standing has some pretty good over-the-top comic book gun fights.
It’s almost like watching a video game.
B sequed directly into A.
‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ has some good fight scenes as does ‘Gladiator’ with Russell Crowe, and ‘Road Warrior’ with Mel Gibson. The fight between TV anchors in ‘Anchorman.’ ‘Kill Bill I and II’ has some classic fights.
Roy L. Fuchs vs. Jeff in “Used Cars”.
The Way of the Gun
The Light Horsemen
Glory
Marhch or Die
The Wild Bunch(And the opening scenes)
Let's also go with the "Battle of Studley Contable" in The Eagle Has Landed
