Everybody has an opinion and here is mine. Haley has a better singing voice than Scotty. He did a terrible job on she believes in me. Haley can sing anything Scotty is a country music singer that’s it. Nothing wrong with that, he will make alot of money. But the attacks on Haley are sick. The name calling makes me think that I’m over at DU. Haley has a voice like Bonnie Raitt or Stevie Nicks very good and she was my favorite. That’s all I got to say about that.

Did ya’ll notice how Lauren and Scotty just stood there so stoic during Haley’s goodbye? It was only after the noticed the camera on them that they showed some life.

That picture just about sums it all up for me. Sorry, I just did not like this girl because of her entitled, self-centered, attitude. She was not that good, in the end was a sore loser and couldn’t be the least bit congratulatory to Lauren.

She pranced around like a wannabe Miley Cyrus without the talent. Her final song and comments about not seeing the last of her just made it all the more special that she was given the boot. Completely ungracious. Buh-bye Haley.

I agree with you. It should be a Haley vs Lauren final.

Noticed it too. They all used to run up and hug / surround the poor person being voted off. Not so much last night, and these are two nice kids. Wonder if Haley was harsh on them? And they were at first afraid to approach her?

For me it’s turned into “Country Idol”, both James and Hailey voted out, I don’t care who wins now, they’ll both be singing at the grand ol’ opry about thier hound dogs and so on, how boring ...

Yes, Haley finishing her song with that bravado, and telling sea crest she rocked AI rather than showing gratitude, really stood out compared to all others going home. This attitude may have played a part in Haley not growing from the AI / music industry mentoring she received. She may feel she is perfect already.

Contrast her getting negative comments from the judges, with Everyone Else receiving neg comments. All the others nod, listen, and take it in. She and few exceptions had a darkly angry face and did not modestly accept the notes. Only a few talked back, including Haley when she would insist to Randy that she didn’t want to only sing one kind of music. Yes, her voice was versatile, but just singing a zillion different covers doesn’t help the public know and like you.

It looked like they were politely watching the montage. If they had been happy and grinning, it might have been taken as them being glad she was gone.

There is really no reason to heap that responsibility on to SJ. Everyone is able to hit the abuse button on any post they find offensive. Everyone here is an adult and should conduct themselves as such.

I will say I rarely hit abuse because I think that people should be able to hit “in forum” and get a clearer picture of how a poster interacts with others. But that is just me.

Right...what really counts is the perceptions people develop about your personality as they stare at you performing on a box in their living room.

They can tell what kind of person you are without ever meeting you...they can determine that you are a slut and a bitch, and petulant, and unfriendly, or maybe even gay, and conceited, with a sense of entitlement...all while you're working your tail off week after week to perfect what the directors, music producers and mentors are throwing at you nonstop.

Analyzing these kids' personalities on these threads reveals colossal amounts of ignorance. The projection on these threads is unreal. Most of the people here have never been in a situation remotely like the one to which these contestants have risen, and are ignorant of the toll it takes on one's emotions and psyche week after week.

The spirit of charity toward these contestants is negligible. My venom is directed towards people writing crap about young people they will never know and who know squat about a situation they will never experience or comprehend.

Go Lauren. She sings beautifully.

If they do a James/Steven duo I think I’d faint! ‘course there are a lot of other acts I could see James paired with. He’ll do well in the big show.

Exerpt from live audience report last night (after show ended) :

“Our heart kind of melted when Scotty won the coin toss to pick if he wanted to perform first or second at the finale, because he handed the choice over to Lauren. What a southern gentleman! We love him!”

You know, TinCan, I don’t disagree with you. If I heard a Haley song on the radio and it was in the same vein as Bonnie Raitt or Stevie Nicks, I would probably like it. When they showed her audition clip last night, I remembered how much I liked her at auditions. It was just her attitude that put me off (I felt the same way about Chris Daughtry). She had some songs that were a little messy throughout the season, IMO, but so did Lauren and Scotty.

The attacks on her got extremely ugly and I apologize to everyone for not standing up and not saying something sooner.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I have never really cared for Scotty either. He’s gotten better throughout the season (thank God he stopped that horrible mic thing), but I just still don’t care for him.

Really appreciate your comments and the thought you always put into them.

AI reflects our current culture like no other barometer, and what better place than here to share and vent?

Yesterday you were casting aspersions on country music people and today you are lecturing posters on their attitudes? hahahahaha

Pot meet kettle.

Thank you. That is sweet.

You are right - maybe that is why, even as a non-country fan, I am thrilled to see America vote for two teenagers who are no doubt conservatives-in-training, good people with good values, and a heck of a lot of talent.

Wow, talk about a broken record. It seems your animus toward Haley, someone you don’t know, will never end. How sad... for you.
