Wow, I am so happy it’s Scotty and Lauren in the finale! Good bye, Haley. What difference between her little homecoming in the rain, with Haley swearing repeatedly and acting all showoffy, and Scotty becoming overcome with emotion that was so genuine and humble, and Lauren being devastated at the damage from the recent tornadoes. Of course I was teary eyed watching their homecomings.

Then Haley was the one to go home, and she had a strange attitude about it. When Ryan asked her how the experience has been for her, haley’s attitude was the least grateful of any I have ever heard on this or any other experience show. What did she say? “I rocked it”???

Maybe this is why she stayed obnoxious all season and never took advice or the judges’ notes to heart. Maybe she has too high an opinion of herself.

I do not care which person wins next week. I believe that Scotty is slightly more deserving of the win, but both will do well no matter who finishes on top. They are both such good kids.

Hmmm....as goes American Idol, so goes the 2012 election?

My first thought, too!
America gets it RIGHT!

Have you seen EDUCATING RITA with Michael Caine and Julie Walters? (Weasley mom from Harry Potter)

She was quite a stunner back then. Her retrokitten sense of humor is a gem.

” Do I win anything for picking the winner earliest? “

Congrats, if that’s that happens on your early foresight.

From me you get the satisfaction that we will have a real American Idol.

He portrays many of the lost values of America in his character.

I’d say the same for Lauren.

I’ll be happy with either one and separate them this way:

Singing Ability - Lauren - that’s why you’ve seen me back her after James ( my favorite) left.

Maturity - Scotty

Likeability - both

Real American Idol - both

Steve Doocie on Fox & Friends is on our same wavelength.

This morning, showing a clip of the Lauren announcement, he said: “Haley was pretty ticked. Couldn’t believe she was the one knocked off the island.” One could tell he was glad to see her go.

He also said the 95 million votes were 15 mil more than last year. Sounds almost like a voting public that was royally p.o.’d that Haley stayed in last week, huh? I know this week I voted the whole two hours, toggling between Lauren and James. Never done that b4.

And Brian said that U2 might be in the finals.

Oh, I didn’t hear that!

I was wondering, now that they have two country singers for the finale, does that alter the bookings they already had in the works? Will guest acts lean more toward country than usual?

Can’t wait to see who they pair each of them with. Even though I’m still mad about James, I love this pairing for the finale. May be the best ever, ‘cause those two are both going to sing their hearts out next week.

This is my first season when I’m thrilled with both finalists and will be happy if either win...I think I prefer Scotty, though. :)

They might sound better being paired with non-country singers. I still love Lauren’s audition when she sang with Steven. Yes, Brian said—Bono and the Edge might be there.

I voted for 2 hours too. Mostly for Scotty, but switching to Lauren when I saw the huge lead that Scotty had over Lauren and Haley.

” Steve Doocie on Fox & Friends is on our same wavelength.”

Thanks Timeout. Appreciate the info/update,

Looking forward to this finale, as I will be entertained regardless of outcome.

At least for me , the last two years didn’t have that same feeling.

P.S. For all of us James fans.........

It would be great if they somehow worked a James/Steven duo into the acts

OK, Haley's gone..but Lauren's deserving. However, reading the thread, I'm quite surprised, and a tad disappointed, at the animus and vituperation in many of the comments about her...some even calling her a b**ch..I mean, come on...the thread is getting to be, well..less fun than in past seasons..it's just a silly singing contest, and these are all youngsters..We may need some ground rules, and more self-policing, next season

Il Volo is magnificent. I've known of them for a year, have a CD..never seen them before..FINALLY, a "boy band" I can relate to. The Three Tenors LIVES again..heck..if they ever make a biopic about the THREE TENORS, these guys can play them as youngsters, kind of like DeNiro did, playing the young Don Corleone is Godfather II.

The other act..Nicole somebody..looked like she should be on a stripper pole in Tony Soprano's BadaBing Club

Saw the commercial for THE NEXT BIG THING..Simon Cowell's show..and I think that Nicolle person is one of the hosts/judges? What's it about? Will all TV be a talent show next year?

Whoever wins, I hope that Scotty and Lauren do at least one duet on the CD..they'd be great.

Apologies for the following rant, but I feel it's warranted:

Watching the show last night, I was touched by Lauren's reaction when she saw the tornado devastation. Then Irealized, that, hey, this season..we didn't have the usual AI begathon. Maybe they decided not to do it..it was getting old, any many of us here were often critical of it.

However, if ever there was a need to raise funds, this was the occasion. I didn't know that Seacrest was from Georgia. They could raise millions.

They could probably put something together real fast for next week. I'd like to email the show's producers to suggest it. Anyone have an email address that might work?..and hopefully encourage others here to also write them to ask them to do this.

I had the same thought, Ken, while watching Lauren’s homecoming. They probably wouldn’t do that for Georgia because then they’d be leaving out the other parts of America hit by disasters in the past year. Wonder why they called off the Begathon this year. And so far no video appearance of Barry & Bride...I’m sure they’ll be popping in to show their mugs at some point of the finale just because they can.

LOVE IT!

It's an instant AI classic, one which rivals crying Ashley.

Ken I agree with you. Haley was never my favorite and I think her entitled attitude is horrible. BUT some of the comments were really uncalled for and disgusting. Calling her a “slut” among other things. That’s just ugly.

I’m shocked season after season that SJ doesn’t throw his hands up and say, “That’s it!”

Maybe before next season, SJ should announce that as thread moderator, he will, at his discretion, ask the admin mods to remove any post he deems abusive..
