I thought that song was a mess.
It's telling that Scotty and Lauren got their texted song choice in front of their hometown crowds and Haley gets her text in the back of a speeding car. No crowd in sight.
Her song is Alannis Morrisette's "Oughta Know".
And she flubs it. She can't keep up with the fast lyrics leading up to the chorus. Voice is too low. We actually see her smack her lips after the first run, like her mouth is dry. Then she gets to the screaming part and tries to make the most of it. But there's no rescuing this.
The judges won't say it, but that just wasn't good. At all.
Randy: America has got there work cut out for them. Loved seeing you rock out. Little problem with the lyrics.
Steven: Incredible. Nailed the chorus.
J-Lo: (rambles, trying to find something positive to say) The chorus was definitely your strongest part.

That’s who sang it on Idol! I was trying to remember, and they did use the same phrase.
I know. How low couild he go?
They were mismatched from the start.
Most of all, I feel sorry for the kids. So embarrassing.
But I hope they learn to like their little half-brother eventually.
