Good show last night. Scotty looks so comfortable and relaxed..

Jacob, Paul, and Stefano get the stools.

Naima was Pia's wardrobe consultant..

And WTF did Randy mean about making the upright bass cool again? Paging Brian Setzer, please pick up the white courtesy phone...

LOL! Brian HATES AI, too. So much so that he put it in one of his songs. :-( Guess we know why. LOL

"Stray Cat Strut" would be a great song for Casey to sing, but I can't imagine Brian would give his permission for it to be used.

One of Paul’s dance moves reminds me of a kid who has to
pee real bad.

He takes a quick step, hops around, freezes.....

Actually, that is not true about Janis. She had a very rough life. I remember in high school she was The ugly girl and went through hell. She did a lot of bad things to try and be liked, like allowing the football team to “gang bang” her. There was a LOT of pain in her.

And that pain really really came out when she sang. It is sad that she fell into addictive drugs, becauSe her talent was real and deep.

Even weirder is that he looks exactly as if Alfred e.neuman and george w. Bush had somehow mated and created a child.

But I love him.

But a flaming bass could give Casey's beard a Pepsi Moment :)

Ha. It surely would!

Wow, you guys are great, thank you!!!

And did the idols put on a great show for my birthday, or what??!!

What a great season this is. I have to say how heartwarming the whole concept is. I’ve only followed maybe 2 or 3 seasons before this and I am LOVING IT!!

My humble opinion, though I enjoyed just about everyone, was that Lauren won it for the second week in a row. James, Scotty and Haley are my other favorites, with an honorable mention to Casey....;^)

Evidently the AI judges haven’t heard of the Avett Brothers. They have an upright bass player and they are so cool..... :)

I was at the R&R Hall of Fame today. They now have a nice display case devoted to Janis, as a prelude to the "Women in Rock" exhibit that will open soon.

In my mind, Janis was one of only four women who really have Rock 'n Roll sensibilities and passion. (Janis, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Gracie Slick) and as a woman I'm somehow offended that the Hall of Fame is going to have a "Women" exhibit. These four women stand on their own and they're not part of some PR display!

Anyway, back to that display case. There were some hand-written lyrics, one on-stage sweater from the late '60s and some photos. It was good, but it didn't really bring up the hurt, rejection, and anger that contributed to Janis's wonderful artistic passion.

Back in the late '90s, Big Brother and the Holding Company toured with a fake Janis. That woman had the voice and dressed the part, but she wasn't Janis. My date quipped that he went to a real Janis concert in the day, and she had a bottle of Vodka in her hand. The fake had bottled water! My point is that singing Janis songs without the pain and anger that got Janis there is like spitting on her grave. I don't know why the judges love it.....it trivializes the memory of a true artistic genius. JMHO

Yes, that was sent in because we asked for it on the thread.

The post was removed for the language, not because a commonly used colloquialism was used to put a point across.

Great post! I would add Pat Benatar and possibly Heart to your list. I agree about the “Women in Rock” area being sort of a slap in the face. It’s like saying, “You’re pretty good....for a GIRL!”

ie: my four selections. In my mind, they're the real rockers, it comes from their life's experiences. Everyone else, at least in my mind, is derivative.

Some of the earlier women who "have it" ex: Etta James were blues, not rock. I'll grant you that only naming four is stingy. But early rock was pretty much a man's world.
