Clint N., have I told you lately that I love you??!!
I just found and read that article and was going to post. You are a doll. It is a terrific article.
I will modestly say I stated upthread somewhere that Haley was the first to develop and demonstrate a definite “brand” on the show. I feel validated by this thoughtful article.
TEAM HALEY!!:)
LET’S ROLL.

She should have been given a blues song. Some of us have been saying this over and over. I think blues and R'n'B are Haley's forte, so let her do it.

Speaking of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks sang on DWTS last night. She looks terrific and I like the warm quality of her voice.
I don’t know any of these songs picked for Haley, but am upset about Oughta Know, with its vulgar porn lyrics. Alanis is just another angry screamer, right?
Haley should be covering some Bonnie Raitt stuff....

I can’t help but wonder if Ahnold applied black facepaint before sneaking around outside his house and climbing the balcony to the maid’s room.

I don't know much about Alanis Morissette, other than that my two daughters loved her music. She's just not my thing, and I don't know what Haley will do with the song, or not.
However, I do want to share one thing with you all. Ever see "De-lovely"..the Cole Porter biopic a few years back? I love Porter...but the movie was pretty bad..actually awful...not even Ashley Judd could save it. However, Alanis Morissette has a music cameo towards the end..she sings "Birds Do It..let's fall in love" and it is superb ..well worth watching the movie just to see it. Her voice there is pure magic..exceptional..

When Alanis sings the song she sings it with anger almost screaming. I think this is total BS so yeah def sabotage. It is a very angry song. Didn't Alanis do an acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill? That's what Haley should do... Then again Haley doesn't have 1/10th the voice of Alanis so I don't think it will matter.

What Should Never Be by Led Zepplin for herself. Interesting... it is "What Is and What Should Never Be" but... not sure how that song is going to translate onto the Idol stage.

Have you read
the lyrics or seen
the video of this song? Most of the verses are unintelligible and the chorus is disjointed. It hardly has a beat and you can't dance to it.
The judges have screwed her again :o(...

It’s a wonder what good material can do.

BTW, the song is about an ex-boyfriend. Who is Alanis's ex-boyfriend whom she shreds in the song? None other than:

Scotty McCreery, whose handle could easily belong to one of the baseball heroes he so admires, has been solid from the get-go. His vocal limitations as a baritone are a seeming reflection of his traditional values and straight-shooting personality. His "limitations" reflect his values? This writer is a jerk.

Netizen posted lyrics and audio yesterday.
This is scummy stuff: don’t do it, Haley.
Oh well, they are probably taping as we speak.

I had forgotten that Crystal sang You Oughta Know in the finale last year...And I didn't care for it then either. The hook in the chorus rocks but that's about it. The body of the verses don't make much sense and they rhyme like pros.
She will kill "What Is and What Should Never Be", perfect song for he.
To: b9
See I didn’t take it that way. “Traditional Values” I took as his love for old country and western songs. (snore) The writer is wrong however because Scotty has a perfectly fine upper register which we saw for the first time last week in the elimination show. I wish he used it more or I’d like him better.
To: Clint N. Suhks
What about the writer’s reference to Lauren’s “neurotic wholesomeness?”
He’s a jerk.

She will kill "What Is and What Should Never Be", perfect song for he. Not sure. The chorus is pretty high (as was Plant's voice) and she gets screechy up there. It's also a very up and down song and the slow parts will be sleepy. The arrangement will have be be very good. There are better Zeppelin songs for her to sing.

Actually, Sweet Dreams is a song that will force her to slow down and not scream. It could showcase her actual original-sounding tone.
But that Morissette song - sheesh. They might as well have given her “Louie Louie” or Hansons’ “Umm Bop”!!! Somebody up there hates you, Haley! And if you sing the blow job lyric they might as well not give out your voting number.
