Usually each judge is assigned to pick a song for a particular contestant and we get to know who picked what for whom. I want to know who picked that foul mouthed song for Haley. I think that judge should be exposed, and I’m not even a Haley fan, but this smacks of sabotage.
If they keep up with guests like Iggy Pop, Iglesies, gag gag and forcing songs with the F word onto contestants, they will lose viewership.

That song is deplorable, it describes well to be family friendly (Bill Clinton behavior, uses the F word)
Haley sang on the local Fox Chicago News and sang a blues song. That is her genre! "You Outta Know" is the WORST song she could possibly sing. It doesn't fit her genre, it is out dated (what 1995?) the young voters won't know it. It has vile lyrics.
I am pulling for Haley as she is the hometown girl and I think this is utter garbage.
I think Randy picked Lauren's song "I Hope You Dance", that song fits her perfectly. The song can show her vocal range and has a lot of opportunities for her to go on vocal rolls.
All three Scottie songs make sense to me.
But I agree either Steven picked the song because it is a vile language song or it is outright sabotage by JLO who in my opinion doesn't like Haley.
She will need to completely change the arrangement of the song. I don't know how they avoid the vile lyrics because it is in all of the verses.
She also needs to change it from the mid 90s style of Alanis. She'd need to slow the song down incredibly.
When Alanis sings the song she sings it with anger almost screaming. I think this is total BS so yeah def sabotage.

I’ve been busy today! lol My hubby went to take some scrap metal to the scrap yard and his junker car died. By the time I get there he got a jump already. Then he goes to work and locks the keys in his van so I had to take him the spare.

My take is they were really surprised that Haley stayed and James went.
To make Haley prove herself they gave her some challenging stuff ( Alanis) and as you point out something she may not be able to change up much due to the similarity of the verses and as you rightfully point out not many lyrics.

Ok first of all forgive me for admitting that I grew up in the 90s. So I actually still have that CD after seeing the posts by the other FReepers here I listened to the song and I will not repeat the lyrics but I don't know how on Earth she can sing that song. If you want the lyrics FReepmail me they are too vile to post on this forum.

I am biased towards Haley since she's a Chicago girl and I agree that she is being sabotaged and my first thought was Steven but then I thought of how many times JLO criticized Haley throughout the season while she praised that Diva black guy who's name I forgot. I think JLO picked the song knowing it was 180 degrees from what Haley's genre is.
Think of it this way, it would be like asking Scotty to sing a Justin Bieber song!!! But atleast Justin Bieber's songs don't have the F bomb and sexual references in them...
Once again I won't be able to watch it live but I will look to everyone's posts after I watch it on DVR.

I am a 28 year old man who lost my mother September 7th 2008 and the biggest thing we had in common was American Idol and would talk non stop about it.
I apologized to your friends, they can hate me, despise me, deplore me, but I am asking you as one person to another to stop this BS. The only reason I still watch AI is because of my dead mother. Yeah it's personal but you won't open my emails which in I apologized to you and your friends.
This is the LAST post I am ever making regarding the drama from the "black paint incident" I hope that you have it within your soul to forgive and forget, give me another chance. Understand that I have been in pain for 2 1/2 years after the death of my mother I'm only 28. She will never see me get married, never see my children, and I have to live with that. If you really are a FReeper than you will respect that and respond. If not than FR is not the site I signed up for four days after September 11th 2001.
