James, Scotty, Lauren. To me one of them will win it.

I agree with you 100%. They get my votes every time, and I DO consider each performance, to see if they take it up another level. OTH, it's been a surprising season, so ... who knows? Jacob is growing up fast too...

1,162 responses. Mind boggling. I guess it’s true that nothing is more important to Americans than AI, Dancing with the Stars, etc. I’ve never watch AI and don’t plan to.

This is a free country. I'm a singer so I'm interested in music in general and singers in particular because it's an art form.

If music didn't exist, I don't know how I'd get through all the crap that's going on in D.C. and globally.

Why am I thinking about the trees in the Wizard of Oz who throw apples at Dorothy? Oh, they were crab apple trees.

Now, do you watch sports? Shame on you if you do because if music is bad, so are sports and other things that human beings enjoy which are called “hobbies” and “interests”.

Whatever floats your boat. I’m just amazed that an AM thread has 1,165 replies. I don’t see those numbers on any sports threads. But I guess people watch sports for an hour or two and don’t spend time on FR talking about it. I just happened to see the thread and the number of replies and I did a big WTF.

This is the second thread of this season. The threads usually get retired after they hit 10,000 posts. All shows are in one thread (til 10,000). So this thread is a compilation of several weeks.

” She isn’t on either of those, and I do know which line she works but I’d be loathe to identify it having said what I’ve said.”

Ok. Will respect that, sad state of affairs she is in.

” OTH, it’s been a surprising season, so ... who knows? Jacob is growing up fast too... “

He’s getting more polished, but at least to me hasn’t connected on the level the others have, so I don’t see
him going all the way.

You are correct. My bad.

Keep on keeping on with your “everyone is stupid if they don’t agree with me” tirade on this thread.

You “Chunga”, will not hear from me again. Too bad the rest of us have to keep hearing from you.

Too bad the rest of us have to keep hearing from you.

What on earth makes you think that I care what you think of my opinions?

Get over yourself, for crying out loud. You addressed me first. I didn't attack you, I didn't post one word to you...and out of the blue you decided to try to upbraid me because you didn't like my posts? Kiss off.

I don't care what you think about me and I don't care what your musical tastes are.

Thanks for ignoring me. Now go away for real. Thanks in advance again.

Lovely talk.

Have fun attacking everyone on the thread who you don't agree with.

You are a bully who lashes out when they don't get their way.

Congratulations. You have made this thread somewhere I don't want to be anymore.

(since you always have to have the last word....go ahead and lash out at me one more time)

Bye everyone.

” James, Scotty and Lauren also sound great together.”

To me they show they can control their voices to suit their style.

James and Scotty very naturally. Lauren still learning, but has the ability.

Agree that they sound great together.

Listening to Scotty and Laurens duet really upped my appreciation for her, and it seemed she was more comfortable, and really shined.

Would like to see her and James do one where James can sing something slower to showcase his ability.

If that were to happen what song or songs would you suggest.

P.S. Thanks again for the singing insights. Some of us may have some athletic or other skill, but speaking for myself, wish actually being able to sing was one of them.

OK, since this week is Movie Night..let's get the ball rolling..what are your TOP FAVE songs from the movies..and I'm limiting it to original songs for movies..not Broadway shows filmed for the big screen..

My list..not in any order:

1. "Somewhere (over the rainbow)" Wizard of Oz ( AI thread fans of Katherine McTatas will well recall her performance..and maybe we need a pick or two to remind us..)
2. "As time goes by" Casablanca...perhaps the greatest torch song ever
3. "Dancing cheek to cheek" ..Top Hat...(ah, Fred and Ginger)
4. "San Francisco" from the movie of the same name...Clark Gable, Jeanette MacDonald ( boy, did she have a set of pipes..)
5. "Yankee Doodle Boy" " Yankee Doodle Dandy" (Jimmy Cagney could sure dance..

Bonus: "Days of Wine and Roses" ( from movie of same name)
Now, what we're likely to hear:

Fame, Footloose Moon River, Mrs. Robinson, The Way we Were, Stayin' Alive, Titanic ( would anyone dare? maybe Jacob?) Raindrops keep fallin' on my head..,Flashdance

Suggestion for James: Do Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" ..one of the greatest Rock and roll songs EVER.. it was from the movie "Blackboard Jungle"..he could OWN that..it would stop the show..

And just to prove to you all that I know a little bit about more recent stuff..early 90's film.."Benny and Joon" had a great song by the Proclaimers.. "when I wake up...I wanna be.." I think Paul could do well with this..might save his ass)

I'd like to hear Scotty do "As time goes by"...it would work well in his register...

‘American Idol’s’ Michael Johns confirms Season 10 return

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/04/american-idols-michael-johns-confirms-season-10-return.html

“American Idol’s” Michael Johns has kept uber busy performing, auditioning and recording music for his upcoming sophomore album. But one thing Johns is never too busy to do: Lend a helping hand to the “Idol” up and comers.

Zap2it caught up with Johns at the Reality Rocks Expo, where he filled us in on the status of his new music, an upcoming return to his old FOX reality show stomping ground and what project he has most recently been pursuing.

Johns confirms that he returned to his the old stage that turned him into a household during Season 7 just a few weeks ago. “We shot a segment for them. It was myself, Elliott Yamin, Carly Smithson and Mikalah [Gordon],” he says.

The “Idol” alum stopped by to the give the new crop of contestants a little advice which only a fellow “Idol” hopeful kind that only they are capable of giving.

“All of the sudden you’re playing in front of thousands of people, you got money in the bank,” he says of “Idol’s” overnight fame. “We give them a little advice on what to expect. How to protect yourself. Because the biggest word that comes into the next year is tax — So you better be careful.”

So what kind of advice does the Season 7 vet pass along?

“It’s like, just realize this is the greatest time of your life. I mean, the chances of getting back to that kind of arena level is rare,” he tells us. “So just to really live in the moment and have a blast and work your butt off, because this is the greatest chance you’ll have in your life to get a career out of it. Stuff like that.”

The Aussie singer reveals that he’s “about 15 songs deep” into his next album, which is aiming for an October release. Johns also tells Zap2it exclusively that he’s recently auditioned for a role in the upcoming film version of “Rock of Ages.”

More at link plus video interview.

Is 19E Standing in the Way of Pia Toscano’s Record Deal with Interscope?

http://mjsbigblog.com/is-19e-standing-in-the-way-of-pia-toscanos-record-deal-with-interscope.htm

According to the gossip guy at AOL.com, Interscope wants to sign ousted American Idol contestant, Pia Toscano ASAP as previously reported, but 19 is standing in the way.

“No way do the producers want a contestant who was kicked off having a hit record when the winner hasn’t even been announced yet,” another ‘Idol’ insider tells me. “The first hit song has always been from the winner and this year will be no different.”

If you start having singers who were voted off charting before the show has wrapped, then the entire process loses credibility, my source contends.

“This is about protecting the brand, not about protecting Pia,” the insider says. “She can record as many songs as she wants, but ‘Idol’ will refuse to allow them to be released for now until the show is over.”

This sounds completely credible to me. Having a 9th place finisher with a hit record before the show even ends makes winner seem inconsequential. What Idol needs now, desperately is a successful WINNER.

The record label interests vs the show’s interests have always conflicted to a certain degree, but UMG seems way more aggressive in perusing their own agenda than Sony ever was. We could have a popcorn-worthy battle brewing between UMG and 19 kids! Pull up the lawn chairs.

Don’t let the thread troll/bully chase you away. If everyone would just NOT feed/post to the troll, it would help. I know its hard not to respond when attacked or belittled. Its hard too, when the thread moves faster on show night, but take that extra second to make sure you aren’t accidentally posting to the troll.
