It depends on the size really. If it’s the same size as a chipmunk or smaller they will definitely bag them if they can get them.

I was burning a brush pile out in the woods a week or so ago and had my Great Pyrennes with me. One of them caught and ate a mouse!

When I was young, we had a first class mole killer. The dogs would destroy the yard trying to get them, the cat would make one very small hole over a run and then sit for hours with her ear to the hole. When she heard one, she would dip her paw in there and snag it. Some days she would leave 3 or 4 mole heads on the porch.

The meat hunter I had would leave his mole & vole kills neatly dead & intact. Picky eater when it came to things that tasted of the earth, methinks.

I fostered my daughter’s two indoor/outdoor cats for a while and they’ll go after any type of rodent. I stepped over quite a large variety that were lovingly delivered to our doorstep.
