We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.

Having grown up in the western suburbs of Chicago, a trip to White Fence Farm was real treat for our family.

Thanks for reminding me of the good ol’ days!

I love Bush’s too, but have to stay away or I’d weigh two tons. I always get the #1 with the tenders, fried okra, biscuit and cream gravy. Michelle Obama would not approve. I like to buy the tea by the gallon in the summer — only $2.00!

Popeye’s...no question! KFC the way they make it now gives me heartburn.

Church's was bought out by and is owned by Muslims.

I went into a KFC about thirty years ago and asked for a white meat meal. They gave me a back and told me it was white meat. Went into another one about three years ago and could smell the sour mop water when I walked in the front door. Turned around and walked back out.

Used to go to the Popeye's when they first opened up in New Orleans in the 70s. Best chicken in central Texas is at Bush's or the HEB deli.

Wal-Mart actually has really good chicken. Not greasy like KFC.

The local Popeyes is owned my Luther Mack. He had owned most of the Mcdonalds in the area. Until ICE raided them. Luther Mack was forced to sell them all. IMHO He should have been charged, arrested, and jailed. I refuse to eat at any of his current businesses, including Popeyes & Fuddruckers. If you live in the Reno\Sparks area, you shouldn’t eat at either place.

I use an unusual method to eat fried chicken. Oh, I love it all but restrict it to once or twice a month. OK, maybe three or four.

I have these paper towels I take with me and let them sit and soak the grease. It is amazing I tell you. Throw out that wax paper on the bottom. Just let them sit for a bit.

No clue if it is helping me but it still tastes good.
What I do can't hurt you and it could help.

“I take it you never experienced the joy of red-eye gravy on a chicken fried steak?”

Your take is correct, I have also been married for 48 years.

When I find something I like and love, I tend to stay with it.

I know that is not very adverterious, but I know what I love, experimentation is not on my radar. ;)

I am very glad I am wrong, but it can be very hard to say. Lots of mods to my knowledge, different people=different levels of patience

Popeye’s! I love their naked chicken strips. Haven’t been there in years. Do they still have those?

KFC developed the pressure cook method to quickly cook to a safe level. The pressure cooker permits higher temperature, enabling “fast food” and chicken.

Previously people had to cook in advance and keep ready under heat lamps... leading to high variation in the dryness of the product.

Popeye’s without a doubt. I’ve never been to a Popeye’s and been served anything but fresh, crispy, and awesome chicken! Their side dishes are great and round out the meal well.

KFC is to chicken what MTV is to music.

"I have also been married for 48 years."

God Bless you and your Wife.

Go Army.

Some of the best fried chicken I have had was at West Point. I was not a Cadet, too stupid for that, but a computer consultant (salesperson).
Back then a salesperson came in with that new fangled half pressure cooker/half fryer gizmo.
I was working with the WP chef doing projected meals. You know, are we gonna have 300 or 3,000 or 30,000 meals to serve today stuff?

Anyway, we tried this Boaster and it increased production 400%. Most important, we put in a touch of nutmeg, dry mustard and ginger ale. Immediate HIT.

Talked with the head chef last summer. They still use my recipets and quantitative programs. Very proud of that.
