We just had Popeyes for dinner. There was a lively discussion regarding it compared to KFC. I'd like your thoughts. I say you can't beat the red beans and rice though.

When Col Sanders was alive, he used to pop into locations unannounced and taste the gray. If it wasn't up to his standards, he would tell them to dump the whole batch and start again. If he were still alive, the uneven quality would not exist. Lots of KFC gravy being sold that would make the Col roll in his grave. And ther's the rub. When the Colonel was alive things were done right! He lived during a time when quality was king, when serving the customer was duty - a matter of personal pride.

The best fast food chicken I ever ate was at Lee's Fried Chicken. The best. That's Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken
Love the coleslaw with Wednesdays dinner!!
Mmm, Mmm, Mmm!
Met Lee Cummings (nephew of Colonel Sanders!) at a FR (Famous Recipe, not FreeRepublic!) in the early 80's. Very cordial and down to earth person!

Used to love Hardee’s chicken but most quit selling it. Found one a few years ago near Summerville South Carolina that still has chicken to this day but after a couple years they even changed to a flavor like any other stores deli chicken. Hardee’s chicken was the same as Roy Rodger's as Hardee’s owns that chain.
We have to drive to past two KFCs to get to a one that does good chicken.
Love Popeye's out of all of them. Church's second. Not a big Bojangles's fan.

My mom used to make AMAZING Maryland Fried Chicken (but not with the gravy)
She made up some flour coating with black pepper and a couple of other simple spices in them, coated all those chicken parts up and cooked them in about an inch of hot oil in that huge black frying pan she used to use.
Man. Was that ever the best. It is different somehow, cooking with the chicken only part of the way in the oil instead of fully immersing it.
I sure do miss my mom. A lovely woman who could cook just about anything, and had the skill to cook for either 4 people of 20, and nobody ever missed a serving. How on earth does one do that?

Culver’s is very good. Can’t compare to Popeye’s - never had it; Culver’s beats KFC hands down.
