SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) More than half of US adults use online social networking service Facebook, according to an upcoming study.
A report by Edison Research and Arbitron Inc. to be released on April 5 includes the finding that 51 percent of US residents age 12 or older have profiles set up at Facebook.

I have a LinkedIn profile, but don’t use it for anything. No facebook, twitter, myspace, etc profiles.
I don’t. I heard some things about stuff in there being used against you and it scared me away. So many reasonable people seem to be on it, maybe there’s not a problem. I don’t know, isn’t there something else that’s come along that’s sort of taking it’s place?
I do; quite a few family events are planned on there, and it makes a handy group environment for things like that.
That and Bejeweled Blitz.. Why do I subject myself to it? Why?
I have no facebook, twitter, myspace or anything else. I only hang out at FR.
Also seems like a huge time sink.
You’ve got to be kidding. Of course, I do NOT use FB or similar. The world doesn’t need to know my emotional status or what I had for breakfast, nor do I care what anyone else had for breakfast or that they are crossing a street or what they put in their mocha lattee.
Me too. FR’s a pretty cool place.
NO
I don't think so highly of myself that I expect the general public would be interested in my minute-by-minute moods, thoughts and/or bodily functions.
ML/NJ
I don’t use any of them either.
Have? Yes. Use? That’s a different question entirely.
Hell no!
I do. I have very little information about me on it, and what i do is fake - BDay for instance.
It is very nice for keeping track of far-flung family and friends, and i access it a couple of times a week.
Like so many other things, it’s how you use it that determines its value or lack thereof.
I finally broke down and created a Facebook page - I wanted some bottled water coupons and many companies put their coupons solely on Facebook now. Drat
I signed up with a fake name - used a unused e-mail address.
It took forever to go through their security/profile adjustments to scrub the page clean of information on even this bogus page - and even then they are probably compiling info on my alias.
I do but only with friends and family. I am very cautious what I post there.
I don’t use facebook or similar either
(my wife however is an addict)
I have a FB profile. I move frequently with my job and I’ve found FB is a good way for my friends and family to keep in touch. I update it with new photos a few times a year and post something on my wall about once a month. I don’t play any of those Farmville or Mafia games.
So many Luddite Neanderthals here on FR. ;)
It’s bad enough you can’t hear someone talk (where that’s still done) w/o saying “like” every other word, but now you have to Like everyone...
