I've downloaded Drudge & The Blaze apps.... what are some of the other higher quality content apps? I'd love to see a FR app, but realize the expense may not fit into this year's budget. Capital project for 2012????
would love to see one for the Ipad/Iphone
The Daily Caller and Business Insider are good too.
Thanks for bringing it up. Would love to see it, and some simplified posting smartphone tools, too. Think that would bring the information flow into the smartphone era. Lots of people with their ears to the ground don’t even use laptops anymore.
Some popular news apps are predictably biased, all of them are generally macabre. I occasionally use Breaking News; at least it’s not a flaming leftist tool.
There is a new app called the Pissantwitch - each day at lunchtime a lewd image of Sarah Palin pops up with the latest left wing slur against her. It starts with a ringtone that says in a whiny high pitched voice, “Don’t get me wrong...I don’t hate women, but...”
It already exists: Safari.
That aside, it would be nice to have more smartphone-centric apps specifically for FR, for example to provide alerts or badges on pings, FR mail, and/or state message boards. Other than that, the only other smartphone-based improvement might be layout to make it easier to select links. (Basically, a "mobile web" version of the site, which could be implemented with or without an app.)
Winner! Mobile website is the way to go IMHO.
There are Conservative apps that point to FreeRepublic

FYI
My Droid is setup to pull FR’s RSS feeds. It works really well.
Would love to see a Droid app for Free Republic.
IMHO Drudge App Sucks.
Why? FR formats correctly on my iPod touch.
Agree, a mobile friendly CSS would be helpful. But an app, could have some benefits. For instance: doing HTML tags (just more of the basic tags like, italicize, page break, bold, block quote and image posting) on a mobile device is a bit of a pain. Not impossible mind you, but it really slows things down to switch through all the keyboards to find the special characters you need.
So an app that could help in that regard would be great. Don’t know if such functionality could be part of the CSS.
“You do know Pissant has been banned, don’t you? Since he has been, it would seem a faux pas to mention him further in polite company.”
Don’t know that faux pas is the mot juste, but point taken.
