This year was actually a good year for movies, as I’ve written repeatedly. The King’s Speech was great; so was Toy Story 3; Inception may go down as one of the most creative films of all time. The Fighter was excellent as well.
Then there were the overrated films. Black Swan was atrociously awful, another Aronofsky masterpiece of self-aggrandizing bullcrap. The Kids Are All Right was a TV movie masquerading as a prestige film because it was about lesbians. True Grit was a remake.

My pick for single worst film to get an award is “Unforgiven” starring Clint Eastwood. One of the worst movies he ever made.

‘How Green Was My Valley’
Wow! Whatta clever title. Everyone's going to pay money to watch it just to see how green it was.
I mostly agree, but "Awakenings" and "What Dreams May Come" are both excellent.
That’s gonna be a big letdown when they find out it’s in black and white.
I thought “Fargo” was pretty good until I discovered they lied when they said it was a true story. It was totally made up.
Knowing it was not true made all the quirkiness of the characters, the way they talked etc. not nearly as good. It did seem like it could have been real.
Although I enjoyed ‘Juno’ and ‘Giant’. The rest of the list pretty much encompasses ‘Over Rated’.
‘American Grafitti’ is pretty, well edited garbage that leans to George Lucas’s strong point of ‘Cutting In The Can’.
Never got the hang of ‘The Matrix’. Outside of its over the top Special Effects, what do you have left to hang a film on?
Woody Allen’s last funny film was ‘Take The Money And Run’.
‘The English Patient’: I’d rather have Root Canal Surgery.
Curious to see what films make the Top ten.
Great movie; Walter Pidgeon and Maureen O’Hara were a gorgeous couple in it. Sad story, though.
Most overrated "funny" actor? Will Farrell. He actually angers me when I see him on screen. It's the same GD character in a different costume in every one of his movies. I only go because my brother thinks he's hilarious.
I forgot about that one. He was good!
I will second that. The sense of anticipation building towards the eventual showdown brewing between the Brolin character and Bardem character was great. Then, Brolin killed off in a completely meaningless way. No showdown. Have never felt as ripped off by a movie as I felt when I left the theater after that one.
Most overrated comedy actor is Jim Carrey. He is totally obnoxious. I can’t stand to watch him. Had to sit through Grinch with my daughter thought I was going to go nuts if that movie did not end immediately.
I loved Fargo. The characters were a hoot.
“American Graffitti”?????...he’s nuts. The soundtrack alone is worth the price of admission. Johnny B. Good, At the Hop. George Lucas made you feel like you were experiencing the night along with the teenagers. Great line: “I lost my Idee too, but I didn’t lose her in a flood”.
I'd heard about that movie for years, and finally saw it about 20 years ago. My first thought was that it was a union recruiting film. Subsequent viewings haven't changed that notion.
Isn’t it weird how “funny” actors are at their best in non-comedic roles? Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, and even Will Ferrell can actually be good when they’re not trying to be “funny”. I agree with Fargo. Great film. Great performances by Peter Stormare and Steve Buscemi.
I don't get it. Inception won four Oscars.
