Glenn Beck is scaring the S^&@ out of me tonight!

Posted on 03/02/2011 11:41:36 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

I'm always at work when the first showing of Glenn Beck airs.

Lately I've been staying up and watching the 1am repeat.

Today he talked about how financial terrorists could have caused the collapse of 08.

He's also talking about middle eastern countries falling.

He showed a map and asked the question.. if all the countries fall around Iraq.. how will our troops even get out of that country???

He then urged everyone to stock up on food.. and said while America waits for Charlie Sheens next tweet.. Americas enemies are planning our downfall..

Not to mention that it will require overflight of hostile territory if it comes to that.

And of course a POTUS that puts Islamic feelings before our military.

There is no country surrounding Iraq that can challenge our domination of the air.

Yeah, we proved that in Somalia (/s)

1 RPG nailing a passenger plane taking off would shut down that runway, no?

Fine. If you all want to buy into the notion that our guys can be prevented from leaving Iraq if they want, go for it.

Not for long.

The bastidges actually tried that a couple of times back in the bad old days of '04 and '05. Their aim sucks, so they didn't get anybody, but they tried.

Not only RPGs, but they used to love to aim mortars and rockets at both airports - military and commercial. All it did was stall things for about 45 minutes.

The runways were never closed for long after these incidents.

And remember...their aim sucks.

Sorry, I misread an earlier article that had the numbers at 56,000. I left with the impression that there were 500K for some reason.

I should have researched the latest #’s. Even still, getting 56,000 troops out "easily" will take a great deal of effort. You must have never been in the Military before. That's all I can say about your gross lack of understanding. It would take over 2 weeks of intense Logistical effort to get that many out "quickly".

I’m quite thankful for their poor aim, and will pray it continues. My boy is in Baghdad.

We still have 500k troops in Iraq? I thought we brought them all home except for about 50k.

Yes, that's correct and the contractor/DoD civilian numbers have come way down as well.

It can be done.

But the intent is to have everyone out by December 31 of this year. I see no reason for anyone to stray from the current plan.

DoS will take over operations in Iraq from there.

Nobody here is freaking out about what Glenn Beck said. And has Glenn forgotten that we have lots of troops in Kuwait? Maybe when he was showing that map to get people all wee-wee'd up, he should have also pointed out the neighboring countries where there is a strong US presence.

I know this graphic may be a little old now, but I think it makes your point pretty well.

So am I. And we're doing just fine (except for the nasty sandstorm going on right now.)

I'll say a little prayer for your boy and for you.

And remember...their aim sucks. :)

I don't really think the whole ME is going to melt down, and if someone got hold of some sort of WMD, the likelyhood of it being deployed (or attempted to) here would be much greater.

Still, let's hope they don't use something that doesn't take a great deal of accuracy should things unwind.

Here is where I think this is headed. I am not so concerned as much about oil prices in the longer term. Short term yes - lots of pain.

Same way they (and we) always have...via air.

Tell them about the 8000' foot vertical glide slope into Baghdad International Airport (have they stocked the restrooms with toilet paper yet?) It is almost as good as a 30 second free fall.

Have you received your permanent residency papers yet?

Take care.

Not to worry WITT, there’s another group claiming the world will end on October 19 of this year - if not - then it will definetly end December 21, 2012.

As far as widespread hunger in the U.S., there is NO reason for it to happen.

When the trucks that deliver that food stop rolling because fuel is $10 a gallon you may change your mind.
