One of the most memorable performances from Sunday night's Grammy broadcast was also one of the most terrifying: Serene Branson, an Emmy-nominated CBS entertainment reporter began speaking gibberish during the network's post-Grammy newscast. However, after initial fears that Branson may have suffered a stroke on-air, she is reportedly doing OK.
"She was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized," the CBS affiliate that employs Branson said in a statement posted late Monday on its website. "As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home. And while Serene says she is feeling better today, she wants us to know she followed-up with a visit to the doctor for some medical tests."
Nevertheless, the unfortunate incident, which went viral on YouTube Monday but has since been removed from the site, left viewers wondering what exactly happened, and whether they had indeed witnessed a stroke on the air. You can watch a video of the difficult moment here, courtesy of ABC News:

It is a frightening video. Hope she’s ok.
It did remind me of the scene in “Bruce Almighty” where Bruce make his rival go goofy on air.
At one point, you can see genuine fear in her eyes. I hope she is really OK and this is a one-time occurrence.
Remember a couple of years ago that clip of a congressman having a stroke right in the middle of the interview? That was so disturbing. Never heard how he ended up.
It is interesting for me to see the responses to this story. Some have just all out made fun of her. I see no humor in it.IMO

When I first saw the video I laughed harder than I have laughed in years.

Frankly, what occurred to me, who gave up on the idiot box a long time ago, is that anyone noticed - after all, what these talking heads spout at all times is gibberish anyway.

I first read an account of the incident, then I heard the audio, and finally watched the video. When I first read about it, I had a similar thought to yours...no shortage of mind altering chemicals being passed around at the Grammys. Then when I heard it, her speech pattern sounded crisp, and her speech was not slurred, merely a mixture of nonsensical words. Finally when I saw the video, it was apparent by the look on her face that she was aware of the disconnect between what she was trying to say and what was coming out of her mouth. I've been around enough drunk, stoned and tripping people and this seemed (to me anyways) something apart from any of those.
