SEA ISLE CITY The parents of a Pennsylvania woman who died shortly after attending a "Polar Bear Plunge" charity event in southern New Jersey two years ago have sued the city where it was held and the group that organized it.
Also among the 19 defendants in the federal lawsuit brought this week by Tracy Hottenstein's parents are the owners of two bars she was at on the night she died and the couple who invited her to dinner at their home that evening. Also named is the hospital where she died and the doctor who pronounced her dead, as well as the Sea Isle City Police Department and individual officers who the suit claims did not allow rescue workers to perform lifesaving treatment for hypothermia after they discovered Hottenstein had no pulse.

The polar bears would like to know, where do these people *come* from???

She was a 35 year-old pharmacist.
It'd be a shame to find some ignant local getting in the way of parties knowledgeable in that fact.
If assistance was denied then maslaughter charges are in order.
Not everyone dies when they appear to have crowned doggone it. Wish all these Souvrnr's'd figure that out
35. There are articles below that one...the 1st one states her age.
Thx;)
Apparently, the parents have been put in touch with John Edwards.
Makes you wonder if these parents are looking for so called justice or how much money they can fill their pockets with to ease their pain. I feel sad that this woman lost her life but I do believe in personal responsibility. Besides we all know it was Bush’s fault.
That's the thing...she DIDN'T take part. She went out and got drunk and apparently either dove off the pier or fell off in the wee morning hours....after the event.
Tracy Hottenstein was found dead in Sea Isle City the weekend of the Polar Plunge in 2009.
Looks like she either had crowns and or veneers. I know, nothing to do with the story, just the 1st thing I noticed from the pic. =)
They should also sue algore. If he wasn’t trying to prevent Global Warming, the water temperatures would have been higher.
It’s about the money.
They should try O.J.Simpson too.
Yeah... I don't get why they think they have an ice-cube's chance in h*ll with suing the event. She didn't go to the polar bear swim. Hey, I hear there are two fast food places and a gas station she did not go to that day either, why not sue them too?
Everything she did do that night however was her choice.
How is it everyone else’s fault though? ANd still how is it not the parents’ fault for not stopping her from getting stinking drunk and going out to the pier and falling in?
Forgot about the cold water which belongs to the NJ shoreline; therefore the state should be sued for having extremely cold water available where some lunatic just might want to go swimming in winter.
For heaven’s sake, the woman was 35 years old! If you haven’t gotten smart enough to not drink yourself into a coma by then, then you will probably not live to a ripe old age anyway.
They forgot to sue the ocean, the Coast Guard, the Boy Scouts, Lady Gaga, Oprah, and God. But I’m sure they’ll get around to it.
Man! I’m glad they don’t know me. If I were a friend, neighbor, or coworker with anyone in this family, I would move.
Stay the hell away from them.
