Change
February 17, 2011

Medical studies have shown that even though people who have had heart-bypass surgery are told that they must change their lifestyle or die, about 90 percent do not change. Typically, 2 years after surgery the patients haven’t altered their lifestyle. It seems that most would rather die than change.

Just as doctors preach a physical message of change to prevent death, John the Baptist came preaching a spiritual message of change. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (Matt. 3:2). He was preparing the way for the ultimate manifestation of God’s reign—the Messiah, Jesus.

Repentance means to change one’s mind and attitude about God, which ultimately changes a person’s actions and decisions. Those who repent and accept Christ’s provision of forgiveness from their sins through His death on the cross will escape spiritual death (John 3:16). Repentance involves confessing sin with godly sorrow, and then forsaking sin. John the Baptist was calling people to turn from one way of living to ways that honor God.

Today, the Lord is still calling us to repent and then to respond with the “fruits worthy of repentance” (Matt. 3:8).

Repentance is to leave the sin
That we had loved before,
And showing we are grieved by it
By doing it no more. —Anon.

Repentance means hating sin enough to turn from it.

Read: Matthew 3:1-12

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand! . . . Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. —Matthew 3:2,8

Good morning, John!

No question as to what I'll have! :)

A little strawberry preserves (or whatever is available) a sprinkle of powdered sugar, a cup of hot cocoa and I'm good for the day! :)

Thank you soooo much!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Good morning Mayor!

Unfortunately, Repentance is something many people know nothing of! Or, they choose to continue with their unrepenting ways because it's easier! Real life is hard!

Sad world we live in!

Have a most wonderful day!

I just love cooking, although its a hobby as I’m a semi-retired mechanical designer and fiction writer professionally.

I usually don’t serve, I ‘hire’ college kids of a conservative bent as servers so they know what work is and intend to prosper by actually serving.

Mornin’, chef Johnn! I hope you have enough ingredients to make another Monte Cristo! (And, I’ll have boysenberry preserves with mine, if you have any.) Yummmmmmm!

The view is so beautiful, and your ‘funnies’ brought a big smile to my face, as I sipped my coffee.

I hope you have a great day, today!

Wow! I didn’t even know that Bennigan’s went under! It was the ONLY place to go in Denver on St. Patrick’s day, for many years! (And, YES - they made great Monte Cristo Sandwiches!)

This world and country are getting worse, God has been thrown out and life all around has become more difficult for us all. Repentance is huge, many continue on with their sinful lives, others change and repent due to the Faith.

I thank God everyday that we are raising God fearing wonderful kids. Even though they aren’t young anymore, they inspire me everyday.

God Bless!

We have so many restaurants around here. In this Tri-cities area we have Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport. Between these 3 cities, we have them all and sometimes triple ones, like Appleby’s and Ruby Tuesday’s, etc. One of my favorites is Cheddar’s! You all make me wonder if some of these places may have a Monte Cristo!

Some of the food channels have recipes for making them, BUT who wants to do that? (I gotta get busy for a while, ya’ll.)
