A WIFE filed for divorce just a month after her wedding because her husband insisted his mother came on the honeymoon.
Beautician Marianna, 36, who can only be identified by her first name because of Italian privacy laws, thought she was free of her suffocating mother-in-law after a lavish church ceremony in Rome.
But 39-year-old Stefano, a salesman, had secretly booked his mother into the same five-star Paris hotel. The first Marianna knew about it was when the woman turned up at the airport.
The wifes lawyer Giacinto Canzona said: She wants a divorce because of her husbands excessive emotional attachment to his mother.

It’s bad enough being whipped by your girlfriend/fiancee/wife...but your mom?
I’m in the Philadelphia area and Danny Bonaduce is now a morning DJ on one of the Philly stations - he called this as a scam last week and to watch for TV deals and appearances on Dr. Phil, etc. I think he is dead on. To paraphrase Danny, “This woman was engaged to this guy for 6 months and couldn’t figure out he was a momma’s boy? This is a set up for a TV or movie deal.”
“A recent study showed Italy has the highest number of ‘mature men’ still living with their parents.”
I saw that too...although I would swap out mature men for middle-aged men.
This is what happens in a post-Christian society. They don’t have kids there. Mark Steyn, in his classic book “America Alone” talks about the inverted family tree there. In, maybe, 2 generations, most Italians will not have brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, or cousins. You will simply map up to your parents, and then to your grandparents. Thanksgiving dinner will be one child, 2 parents, and 4 grandparents. That is a SCARY, SCARY, thought, especially as that child gets older.
Genesis 2:24
Mark 10:7
Matthew 19:5
Ephesians 5:31
All stacked against you.
Make that older, immature men, and I might buy it. If you exclude those living in goat skin tents, mud & stick huts, or single-wide trailers, then it's no contest.
BTW does the First Mother in Law still live in the White Hut?
Amen, bro or sis.
Great point.
I’m with you. While I cannot say I grew up with abusive parents, I did grow up with a very, very difficult mother who gives me trouble and depression right into middle-age. I luckily got out early as well and so now have days at a time of total peace. Then the elder care stuff kicks in...
Actually, if you watch The Birds closely, you will see that Rod Taylor plays a mama’s boy to Jessica Tandy. Tippy Hedren straightens him out.
Why am I visualizing Nicholas Cage, Cher, and Dukakis’ mother right now?
Tippy Hedren could straighten out a lot of mama's boys that Doris Day would have no effect on.
nudge nudge wink wink say no more
;^)
She was smart to leave early and not wait in my opinion. I love the part of a wedding ceremony when two candles light one and the initial two are blown out. The two people in this ceremony didn’t become one... A son can always love his Mom but Mom has to know that the umbilical cord is cut. He’s on his own to start a new life. Just a thought.
I knew I was in trouble the minute I used the word “straight”! Are you a goer?
I don’t know which would be more embarrassing: bringing mom on the honeymoon, or having that fact splashed all over the world on the net.

Do you feel obligated to care for your wretched mother in old age? I do not. My own wretched mother stole my childhood from me.
Now who's family they lived with might be the question.
Don't flame me too hard but she should have NEVER married him.
Even if you have known a person for a short time you should never go in to a relationship with the idea of changing them after the marriage, or even while courting. Ain't gonna happen. IMHO too many women go after men who need fixing. Maybe the mothering instinct in them. I could be wrong.
Leave and go find a better fit.
