As many of you know, am old network TV newsie. Just tapped former proven source, retired VERY senior CIA officer. No Hq paper-pusher type, he is the real deal, a highly successful very senior ME field operator. Retired as ES-4.
From an intel assesment stanspoint, he is a proven source, with access to information, extensive field work in the area, no reason to lie and has always given good data in past.
His assessment (in shorthand:)
1. If Egypt falls, disaster for US. Put succinctly; "the horse we bet all our life savings on may be about to drop dead in the backstretch."
2. If Egypt gmvt falls, radical Muslim Brotherhood will be the new power, totally.
3. If Egypt falls, Jordan and Saudi are in trouble, but not necessarily gone. Even Syria is not safe.
4. Although Muslim Brotherhood would take over, the cause of revolt is not religion but the lack of jobs, horrible standard of living. Saudi and Jordan citizens have somewhat better conditions, so might be saved.
5. Egyptian Army is the absolute key. If Army stays local, Mubarak may be safe. If they falter, he is absolute toast.
6. Problem is, Army does not like Mubarak. They loved Sadat, he was one of them, but they do not like Hosni.
7. If Egypt falls, biggest winners are Iran and Russia. Iran becomes big kid on block. Russia desperately needs crude oil prices to go up to help economy. They prosper at $90 barrel crude. This could create $220, $250 a barrel crude oil prices
8. Big loser? Surprisingly not Israel. Just more enemies... who all know Israel will take war nuc if necessary to save self.... but due to US aid, Egyptian Army has great American equipment.
9. Biggest loser #2; Western Europe
10. Biggest loser #1; USA. Oil prices cripple economy. Even worse, word in every diplomatic circle becomes "See what happens to America's friends."
Bottom line; possible/probable disaster for US
I will have nightmares for weeks now.
you post: “should it come to pass, it will be totally 100% Obamas fault.”
Fault or PLAN?
Pay no attention to the words coming out of his mouth today - remember, the Brotherhood is allowed to lie to infidels.
Also remember, where was the very first public speech ‘bummer gave as POTUS? In AMerica? No.
In EGYPT. What is the precedence for that? Has an American pres. EVER given his first public speech in a foreign country.
And that speech was full of glowing praise for Islam and his commitment to the Muslim countries - probably the longest talk - and mor sincere - he has even given. It was a clear blueprint to those with ears to hear.
Listen to it - it's long - but LISTEN if you want to know what is REALLY happening. Bookmark this speech and study it. He who thinks the rhetoric he is spewing today is sincere is naive to the point of stupor.
remember, this is the man Odinga depended on for advice in how to ferment riots and take over Kenya.
Today, Egypt. Tomorrow, America?
LISTEN AND LEARN - is there any doubt where this man's heart is? He still reveres the Koran. He believes in the midnight ride in the heavens of Mohammad. Clean your glasses, folks, and take a clear look.
First, just look at this short clip with a photo of bummer taking part in Muslim prayer IN THE WH - but he canceled our National Prayer Day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaKeWwE0t7E&feature=related
Why have we not seen this - on every front page?
He has repeated the Muslim call to prayer - in perfect accent. To give this call to prayer is ONLY for Muslims and in doing so, proclaims you are Muslim.
This is a long speech - but if you want to know what going on right now - LISTEN to it all -
Right now. RIGHT NOW. Obama needs to announce that we are going to drill oil here.
The blood of Egypt is on Obamas hands, if anybody cannot see this they are lost.
As I posted earlier today, Iran’s goons, Hizbollah, are behind this. It started in Lebanon. They organized and coordinated every one of these uprisings.
LOL! Frantzie, you crack me up with your ever-present swipes at TV! I so totally understand and wish fewer were taken in by it in ways they may not even know (after not seeing TV for years, it's such a shock to watch it and see God Knows how many ads for prescription drugs! YIKES!!! That's scary, and sick. But hey, that's how it is.) The worst part is that it holds up a fake mirror. WE are the majority, but TV has us all tweaked into perceiving (falsely) an America where liberals dominate in votes. They don't. They cheat.
But because the MSM has us cowed into "minority" status, we look at cheated victories and shrug, "Gosh, I guess most American are numbskulls because they elect these goons." It's a lie -- those goons were mostly elected by just enough fraudulent and manipulated (Motor Voter, the elderly, unions, Rock the Vote, etc.) votes to win. Their supporters are the minority. WE are the majority, but TV distorts the image we have of ourselves as a Nation.
I've been pretty much "TV free" since 1977. You're what, on your first year? Give it a rest. Give people more credit. PLEASE quit calling them idiots!
And remember that a lot of intelligent folks watch TV, including loved ones of yours truly, and probably the majority of FReepers. So you're insulting a lot of people, you know. You're just getting used to a whole different way of seeing the state of things. People who only get their news from TV and MSM are wildly misinformed. But the folks here obviously are not among them.
Mindbender says that he is himself a veteran of TV news.

All prices will go sky high, including the many petroleum based products we use on a daily basis- lots of plastics.
Ah, thanks so much.
Thanks for posting. I can’t see how Bolton thinks this is all about democracy. First Tunisia, then Egypt, rumblings in Yemen, rumblings in Jordan, Lebanon looks ready for the final fall and full Hezbollah “management”. We have a weak president, they know it, see the change in the House, see the change in mood in the U.S. and know their time is limited to wreck havoc without interference by the first muzzie in the whitey house.
We’ve already tested the limits on oil. It may go up a lot but only enough to crash the economy then demand will go down and so will price. Oil from the M.E. goes mostly to Europe and the Far East or to the U.S. via Cape Horn... nonetheless, general lack of availability will raise prices.
We have been creating an ever deeper vulnerability to choked oil supplies for decades. The SPR is like spit in the ocean. Eventually, our vulnerability will get us and we will be defeated if we do not get serious about a true national energy strategy... it will never happen. We will never have leadership capable of articulating the need and the vision and the enthusiasm around it. We are people who love our comfort and think it will go on forever as our right. Just like the fundamental problems in our budget, or addiction to energy and our ever increasing weakness because of it will never be fixed and will become one of the crises that take us down.
This situation in Egypt is serious and I am concerned it is spreading. Our troops in Iraq are mostly surrounded. I wonder when Iran will make another move?
In a nutshell.
The danger is that few will see it - until we suffer the consequences as we STILL are from Carter's Iran overthrow.
Only, if O is successful in this - the consequences will be far worse. And when you consider that, because of Carter/Iran, we've had 9-11, Iraq & Afghanistan, that's a frightening outlook.
Listening to O speak tonight with his 'strong' words to Mubarak - a quiet chill runs past that says: He lying though his teeth. It's show. He's in this deep...with his puppeteers. WE will see - If the Muslim Brotherhood comes out on top - we will know. And we'd best get ready for rough times...that will make the last 2 years seem mild.
Would that people learn to 'watch the other hand.'
BTW - I love your ID name ;o)
Islam Brotherhood in America, coming soon as ACORN and SEIU, and they are EXEMPT from Obamacare.
But who am I kidding, its already here, been here, its who supported Obama, its who got the monies to buy his election.
They are Obamas roots.
Sounds to me like countries in the ME only have the mentality of two choices of government, dictatorship or theocracy.
Actually it was oppose to be something else, as it is it means nothing, I typed it wrong and let it stand, kinda like when they named the town of “Nome” in Alaska, it was actually “No Name” on a creased map.
30% unemployment here and no revolts?
hmmmmm..........
