Joe Perry hates American Idol

He's performed on the show a few times.

Here he is with Kelly Clarkson during one of the finale shows. Can't remember if it was an Aerosmith song or not though.

How old is this kid?

Only 15, but did you see the way he reacted when he got the golden ticket? No histerics. No tears. Just calmly walked out to his family.

That's more mature than some 28 year olds on the show, LOL

This is how Oprah looks at herself in the mirror.

Darn FR hampsters is right! Before the show ended I couldn’t get back on the thread. Was I the only one having trouble? Anyway, I was having dinner Wed night with hubby at a fancyschmancy restaurant so I missed the revelry for that show. We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary a couple weeks late because snowstorms have been messing with our plans! Thanks for the card, btw! I almost went through your town in November and thought I was going to be able to give you a shout, but Dad’s motorhome ended up taking a slightly different route to FL. How are you?!

“But here you are.”

Yes; here I am... on a FreeRepublic thread. Definitely not watching American Idol. There is a difference, y’know. (Or do you?)

The kid will be put on an exercise and diet regimen while he's trying to learn all these songs. If he can get to the top 12 - 13, it would be amazing. Imagine being critiqued for your singing, your personality and your weight. That's what show biz does. That's why I'd rather sing at a flea market. Musicians are artists who can do it for the money or they can do it because it's art. As art, singing is more freeing.

Those who hit the big time are under lots of pressure to stay relevant but gosh, the money is really good if they work constantly. To summarize: For a very long time, they need to get used to the road or they don't stand a chance.

The road's a lifestyle in itself. See u next week...

I was in to auto racing awhile ago. It was fun until I got homesick for the first time and I couldn’t shake getting homesick. I was in the entourage to make sure the driver got to the track on time. I met Smokey the Bear and saw lots of actors who paid to be racedrivers and rented their rides.

Hi Jonny,

Just a quick update on what’s been happening in my life. I was laid off for 18 months. Finally took a job as a security officer at a refinery here in the Los Angeles area. It only pays $9 an hour, and the hours suck. I work a swing shift. 2:00pm to 10:00pm. For the first five months on this job, I worked graveyard shift, 10:00pm to 6:00am three days a week. Horrible hours, so swing is better. I still do graveyard two days a week. Also, my work week begins on Fridays, and there’s at least one day a week when I have to do a 12 hour shift.

I’ll be on the thread as much as I can, but even if not, I still read all your posts. Am very grateful for them. I can take my laptop to work. So even if I can’t post, I can at least read yours.

Hope all is well with you.

Pat

Couldn’t get in to FR last night, so I am late to the thread.

That last kid was great. He had his own style, definitely N’orlins influence.

He is 100 times more talented than that creepy Justin Bieber.

I hope he does well and builds self-confidence on AI.

Wolfstar, good to see you back here.

Hang in there with the work situation...it can only get better.

I tell everyone I know that there are great job opportunities in Northern PA. for those who are able to relocate. The natural gas industry is booming up here, and they are hiring people for all kinds of positions. $20 an hour is the typical starting salary for unskilled labor. Heck, you could make that as a security guard up here.

Some of the companies hiring are Anadarko, Chief, Southern Union...and lots more.

(WARNING: you have to like working in snow and cold weather.)

Check out the employment section of Sungazette.com and other northern PA newspapers.

You won’t have Looter Guy at the SOTU, but you will have an extra-large Hispanic gay community organizer—the one who helped save Gabby Giffords’ life.

I hear Looter Guy was finally found! I can’t believe he didn’t want to go forward and do something that would make him some money with it! Oh, that’s right, he gets enough from the government that he doesn’t need any extra cash...
