Randy should have asked for her CD, then put his Coke on it like a coaster.

Or flung it across the room like a Frisbee. :)

Until you come back to me by Katharine McPhee.

My all-time favorite Idol Performance and with the long brunette hair one of the most gorgeous women who ever lived, for me at least, just my type.

This girl sounds like what a cheese grater would sound like if it could sing.

I knew some day I'd have a use for this picture!

Thanks to all for your kindness. I can’t watch the show much this year, but am able to see some of the auditions on my cell phone via YouTube. Of the ones I’ve seen so far, wow about Paris Tassin. That young woman is so talented. On my cell phone, of course, accoustics are a little tinny, so am not sure if the contestants really sound the way I’m hearing them. To me Paris sounded slightly shrill in a few spots. She may have been too emotional and might need to learn to dial that back a bit so she has more control. But having said that, wow, is she ever talented. Best I’ve seen so far on the YouTube videos.

Another observation...are we raising only effeminate boys these days? Yikes, but most of them are pathetic, limp-wristed types. I guess the real young men are in the military — until Obama and the Left change it, that is. Retraining is coming to a military base near you, and me, and all of us soon.

Hi, Wolfstar :)

Did you see this kid's audition? I thought you'd like it the most.

Hi Jonny. Wow, that kid is terrific. Thanks for calling his audition to my attention. I’m trying to catch up to them on YouTube, but it’s hard when all I have is my cell phone at work. Sigh. I really like this kid a lot. Love those rich manly voices, even if it comes from a 16-year-old. :)

Jonny, just a PS to that country kid. Sadly, I could see him having trouble with the different genres they have to sing during the competition. Not so much because he does country, but because of his deep voice. So many songs these days are written for falsetto. Falsetto is fine as far as it goes, but it gets tiring after awhile, at least to me.

I always have preferred a manly man. He might be gayer than a $3 bill in his private life, but if he can perform like a manly man, that's all I ask.

Rock Hudson is a perfect example of what I mean. Few, if any, fans knew he was gay. He kept that side of his life private and was the hunkiest of manly hunks on screen and in interviews.

Falsetto is, to me, a guy trying to have a feminine voice.

Sadly, I could see him having trouble with the different genres they have to sing during the competition.

Not to worry :) Idol has done away with the genre competition this year. If someone stands out in a particular genre, like Country, then they'll find the best Country songs for him to sing every week.

"We are no longer going to get the country singer to sing rock and the rock singer to sing folk," American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe said ...

"They are now going to stay with what they believe and what Jimmy believes is their genre that they need to work in."

Best of all, no more half-baked celebrity mentors.

Fox has announced music producer and executive Jimmy Iovine [the guy pictured far right at the top of the thread] will be joining American Idol as an "in-house mentor" ...

"No mentors. Jimmy is the resident mentor, so mentors -- Miley [Cyrus], or anybody else -- [are gone]," Lythgoe said. "The styles of music are going to be more decades rather than individual artist's music. And that's, I think, is really important -- to be able to develop what they are good at."

Iovine is the chairman of the Interscope Geffen A&M Records group of Universal Music Group, which replaced Sony Music as Idol's recording partner last month and will be much more hands-on than its Clive Davis-headed predecessor.(source)

It sounds like they're really trying to scale back to what the show started out to be.

It's great to see you on the thread again :) I understand why you can't be around as much right now. But I'm glad you can follow along when you can.
