Am I the only one having problems connecting to Free Republic today?
I don’t wish to harp on this, but I could be 5 counties away before a zot landed, LoL
BTW thanks again for the venison sausage.
I could not eat it all so I took one into work.
There are some very thankful Texans rubbing their bellys.
They all said it was the best they had ever tasted.
Try since last June...this is unacceptable, IMO. I love FR, and have been here for over a decade. I'm also aware that FR has grown amazingly over this period - but also aware that each FReepathon has upped the ante by several thousand zops each and every quarter for the last several quarters, and I've kicked in.
More than a few of us are a bit 'wondering' about priorities with these increased budgets...a working website, one would think, would be number one, and apparently it isn't.
I think they’re under cyberattack (forces of evil), or the bandwith is overloaded in my situation. Keep the faith!
This site is basically unusable now. Too bad, I’ve had a great time here for many years but maybe it’s time to move on now...
Something has been up with FR for about six months. I have figured that there are some hackers connected with more liberal sites make it a point of honor to mess with this site as much as possible. There don’t seem to be as many users as before, so maybe the server is bogged down with malware.
Seemed like the problems started the other day, (immediately) following Duncan Hunter’s online live interview thread.
Almost to the minute.
I figured it’s Chicom hackers, trying to keep people from reading what Congressman Hunter had to say about trade policy, and China.
It is well documented that these “performance issues” have plagued this forum for years in spite of the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars that folks like yourself have “kicked in”. I used to think it was a coincidence that these performance issues walked hand in hand with the FReepathons, but I’d have to be a complete and utter fool to not see the connection; pardon the pun.
Very slow in Florida
#1 put in a Toby Keith CD
#2 play free cell while its loading, after a couple of games its loaded. Free Cell takes concentration so you don't mind the wait...
#3 Clean house while waiting....patience is a virtue
#4 Your right, FR though slow is still up...:O)
LOL You can leave but you know you’ll keep returning. I’ve learned to deal with it and hope Jim can keep it going and I still intend to donate every chance I get.
I dread the day FR is no longer here.
This is the only place one can get the nitty-gritty up to date
true news.
>> It is well documented that...
If you were educated about what it takes to operate a high profile website (or any type of business), you might be less inclined to complain about FR and its limited budget.
BTW, FR’s availability is not perfect, but very good.
When you’re not sure if it’s just you, try this site:
It’s actually called “Down for everyone or just me?”
Regards,
In a word, YES!!
I agree with your assessment and I too am a regular contributor. Don’t know what it costs to run a large forum web page but I would think with proper hardware purchases and bandwith choices, smooth operation should be the norm.
Now the one factor that can not be easily overcome is liberal hackers and their unlimited time, twinkies and Red Bull
Or I could be lying through my teeth...
Or I could just be lying through my teeth...
I certainly did not mean to say anything that would warrant a flaming, but simply stated the truth. It’s been weeks that this has been going on, and I will be the first to say that I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes at FR Central, but it is very frustrating.
Perhaps the problems stems from DoS attacks, or simply a lack of hardware/bandwidth/software, but if Freepers find an alternative and start migrating it will be hard to get them back.
