I dont know why people fixate on sugar.
Thats the entire thing about pork lard in pastry. It adds that savory element.
And it makes a wicked dough.

I have a friend that makes a triple chocolate cake that is awesome.
Oh its loaded with sugar, but the chocolate overpowers it.
And that’s what a chocolate cake should do. It should be the star.

Although it has warmed up here, it is raining it’s guts out, the rain is being driven sideways by high winds..

brought a bunch of wood in for the kitchen cookstove, and also have a propane fireplace in the living room if the power quits, as the weather reporters have warned it might.
