Who's cooler? Lee Marvin or Steve McQueen?

I say Lee Marvin hands down. He was just cool and never thought he had to prove it.

Lee Marvin was a former Marine who served in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a tough guy alright.

Sorry, I read a bio of McQueen and maybe misremembered...or maybe mixing it up with the "Sand Pebbles"(excellent movie).

Anyone see McQueen in "The Reivers"? Not his usual character but good as I remember.

I liked it when George C. was asked if a B52 could get through the Russian defenses. “He** yes, have you ever seen one of those big babies coming in low?”, with his arms outstretched and a stupid look on his face when he realized what he had said.

“The Sand Pebbles” may have been the best movie either of them ever made.

Purple Heart, not Bronze Star.

I like both, but one of the funniest movies was Paint your Wagon. Lord have mercy on my ears when Lee Marvin sang “Wandering Star”.

Yup.

‘Although Steve McQueen did his own motorcycle riding, there was one stunt he did not perform: the hair-raising 60-foot jump over a fence. This was done by McQueen’s friend Bud Ekins, who was managing a Los Angeles-area motorcycle shop when recruited for the stunt. It was the beginning of a new career for Ekins, as he later doubled for McQueen in Bullitt (1968) and did much of the motorcycle riding on the television series “CHiPs” (1977).’

Just checked out some Bios and none of them mention a bronze star so I stand corrected Lib.

The story was about him getting the Navy Cross. Urban legend.

Except for the part about getting shot in the ass...

The motorcycle chase in The Great Escape was one of the last parts filmed because McQueen insisted on doing his own stunts. You probably know that story.

McQueen was a former Marine, miss.

People like Dellums, Ritter, Murtha, Lonetree, Garwood, Kovic, Dennehy, Carville, McFarlane, Glenn, Blumenthal, etc. are ex-Marines.

Understand the difference?

"The stunt that he personally performed when he jumped the fence in “The Great Escape” was mega kool!"

Any votes for the Fonz? He did some great jumps too.
