A woman believed to be the world's fattest at 700lbs is facing a battle to shed weight after being told by doctors she could die. Terri Smith is confined to her bedroom in her Shaker Heights, Ohio home unable to move, stand or roll over by herself. Suffering from severe headaches which doctors fear could stem from a brain problem, Terri urgently needs a brain scan - but is too big to fit inside an MRI machine.

Damn your eyes! I was getting ready to ping ya. LOL
She live in Shaker Heights OH, USA.

I need my morning cup of tea before posting.
I bet that doctor’s report really surprised her!!!//s
Probably disability payments and other "safety nets" woven by you and I.
Wouldn’t it, like, take a GPS receiver to, you know, find “it”?
These immobile large people are like the flower in Little Shop of Horrors: Feed Me.
Some weak-willed relative, likely the mother, is there, shoveling mountains of calories into the great gaping maw.
Step one: remove the weak relative.
The Libertarian in me states thusly: “Nobody put a gun to her head, for her to get where she is, now. Likewise, no one shall be allowed to put a gun to My head, to render any monies towards her self-deprecating actions, without due return of violence.”
What do you think — do these sheets make me look fat?
Thank you for taking the high road. Poor woman.
She looks exactly like the FedGov to me, without all the guns.
She has a husband and daughter who take care of her, changing the Depends, cleaning her up, and so forth. They must bring in the 15,000 calories per day.
She wants a gastric bypass. But they can't do that surgery without first determining her headache source, and she won't fit in any MRI.
They tried to have her MRI'd at the Zoo, but the zoo wasn't licensed for humans.
This is pitiful.
I would thank Skeez for posting this, but Skeez included a picture. Ow.
This woman has more than an overeating problem. When the body gets this fat, all sorts of weird hormonal changes take place, and it’s close to impossible to lose weight because lying in bed 24/7 takes almost no calories compared to getting up and moving around. It is definitely a downward spiral.
I forget the specifics, but there was/is(?) a weight-loss program called Ar-Weigh(?) whose founder’s son weighed 800 pounds and tried to lose it by fasting and starvation. He died of malnourishment at 600 pounds, so his mother started the diet program, and it recommends against long-term fasting.
That shows that a sedentary person does not draw nourishment from his fat at anything but a glacial rate, and that, for some people, having a large fat store on the body does not guarantee viability in times of starvation.
This unfortunate woman is in a terrible pickle, and I pray that she finds her way out of this situation and back to good health during the coming years, and I do mean years, for that is how long it will take to restore her.
She could eat 3000 calories a day and lose over 60 pounds in a month. As others have said, somebody is bringing her food.
“lying in bed 24/7 takes almost no calories compared to getting up and moving around. It is definitely a downward spiral.”
Tell me about it. I’m going to get a computer chair with no arms next time.
