A bizarre accident at a local golf course Wednesday afternoon sent a maintenance worker to the hospital with a serious head injury, police told WFTV. However, Thursday afternoon, WFTV learned he died from his injuries.
Officials said Maurice Hayden was doing landscaping work at the Mayfair Country Club in Sanford when a golf ball hit him in the temple. Officials said Hayden was not doing well when he was rushed to a Seminole County hospital.
As of now, no charges are pending against the golfer because police said the incident appeared to be an accident.

Try driving with a putter. The ball never rises very far from the ground.

About the same chance as winning the lottery, but sometimes the fickle-finger-of-fate...
It's what I refer to as the "negative lottery", the one you don't want to win...

THAT is DISGUSTING!
Only the rankest of juveniles are so obvious about ripping a foul one.
It very clearly demonstrates his mental age.

Imagine a driving range located in the infield of a horse racetrack...it's a bright sunny day with the wind blowing against your back...and there is, a fence. A challenge has been made and accepted...I must put a ball onto the track...it is a matter of honor. I borrow one of my sweeties clubs and step up to the plate. Using a combination baseball swing/shot-putting explosion I hit the ball. The ball starts rising and the wind catches it and the ball seems to just hang there in space, but, it keeps getting smaller. I calmly say that it is going to clear the fence. It does with inches to spare...and it bounces in front of a jockey and his horse. The horse spooked, the jockey was yelling in Spanish, and the manager of the range was neither amused or congratulatory. I got banned because they had low fences.Luckily for me golf was never one of favorite games.

I think he’s just using “body language” to steer the ball. I never even thought of him pulling a ripper there.
Now that you mention it, that is funny, in a juvenile way.

I was one of the unfortunates for whom milliseconds were not smiling upon. Took a 4 iron hit shot to the side of the head as it was still on the rise.
Woke up looking at trees above and took about 15 seconds to realize where I was and what had happened.
Blood all over my face and head. Decided it was best that I not try to drive home or to the hospital for fear of concussion. Decided to ride to the turn to regain balance and cognition. Unbelievably never got a headache, just dizziness. After another hole thought I would try to swing a club to test my balance. No prob. (This is where I question my foursomes judgement, but if you’re a hardcore golfer, you know what I’m talking about)Seemed OK so got back into play and went the next 8 holes at 1 under. Reality and true conciousness do return after a certain amount of time. Bogies and doubles coming in.
At the emergency room later the doctor told me 2 inches furthur forward on my skull and I wouldn’t have gotten up.
And then there was the time I went to the emergency room from the links from a scorpion sting.
Don’t ever let anybody tell you golf is a non-contact sport!

"...police said the incident appeared to be an accident."They'd have a hard time proving someone could do that on purpose. Only James Bond, or maybe Crank.

I hit a guy on top of his head after he had signaled for me to hit the ball onto the green. It was a par 3, and the guy was putting out. He saw me waiting to tee off and waved at me to hit. I promptly hit a practically perfect shot headed in a very high arch directly at the pin. However, the guy was standing next to the pin and didn't move off the green. I remember seeing the ball coming down and looking in horror as the guy was standing next to the pin and not off the green where he was supposed to be. At the last second he put his hands on top of his bald head. I was surprised to see him standing where he was, and I started gurgling out some kind of warning. But it was too late, the ball hit him directly on top of his head and rolled off the green.
The good part: I chipped up close and saved my par. I also played out the round with the guy who was not upset. But he later called my dad's insurance company ( I was a teen at the time) and actually got money from them.

I remember playing golf (I don’t anymore) and being beside a par 3 green, when I heard “fore”! So I squatted down and waited and waited, until I figured it’s got to be safe by now and just as I got to get up, the flying ball bounced right between my knees and over my head.

I played in such a course in Morocco in 1994 or so. I was on the SIXTHFLT flagship while visiting Morocc and we received invites to play on the “royal course,” caddies and everything, pretty cool.
