Thank you for posting. The false Coventry story has taken on a life of its’ own.

The story of those nails — they are medieval in date, handmade, and no-joke big in size, and the congregants were *inside* the church when the roof caved in during the bombing. Those nails rained down as they ducked for cover under pews and whatnot. And they fashioned a similar cross for their own cathedral.

Back in the day, Radio Direction Finding was in its infancy and they weren't all that accurate. Churchill was so right in his "never have so many..." speech.
The Naval Intel boys in Hawaii were spot on figuring out what the Jap code meant for Midway. Rochefort and his crew were brilliant.

I’ll have to go pick that up. I’m still old fashioned in that I get the album instead of just downloading the song. There are always songs that never get released as singles that are very good. Those wippersnappers don’t know what they are missing.

Indeed...when I stood next to that cross I remember those nails looking more like spikes. Incredible...

They also did that with a lot of other nails from there and presented them to various churches. All the ships named HMS Coventry have carried one. They actually went down to the Coventry sunk during the Falklands war and brought its cross back up to return to the cathedral.
