What better way to get even with Boxer & Brown than to threaten to leave the State! How many of you were contemplating leaving California should the Libs stay in office? Any resident in Cally with a comfortable savings account may want to head east knowing Boxer will find a way to tax half of your fortune! If you live in California, are you planning to leave "As Soon As Humanly Possible"?
11 months until I am eligible to retire. Would like to be around to sign browns recall petition though and vote for it.
“Because the right thing to do after you build a life for yourself in a place you love, a home for your family, friends, business, community... is to run away. Jeez. It was an election.”
Exactly. And even more important than our unfortunate sending the Wicked Witch Sisters East and West back to Washington: the legalize pot measure LOST. There are still sane, thinking Californians willing to stand up for what’s right.
And has everyone already forgotten we actually got off our asses and tossed out Gray Davis just a few years ago? Do you know how hard it is to recall a sitting governor? A libby lib progressive loved by the unions? But we managed it when we couldn’t stomach any more.
Problem is CA is a young state; my parents remember the Jerry Brown years, but I was a kid. Seems every generation has to learn for themselves. I’m sticking. I will not hand over my state without a much bigger fight than we’ve put up so far. Let THEM leave.
What else can you do when your neighbors continue to vote themselves more of yours stuff?
I am moving out of NY state for the same reason
Let’s all meet in Texas!
Then we’ll secede and how ‘em how its done.
RE: “Well you certainly do have many more memories and experiences than I do in the formerly Golden Statenow I call it the Brown State.
However, I am at least grateful I was able to witness the fading glory of the Golden State before it fell into complete anarchy and chaos.”

Yes, but to hear my (long deceased) parents tell it, I missed the REALLY good times — when they were first here it was 1939-41 — with tales of arriving in LA after passing thru the beautiful and fragrant orange groves of the inland empire, and riding the ‘red car’ transport system around L.A., and the (then) enchanting canals of Venice near Santa Monica, etc. They lived in Santa Barbara when it was a village, and it was apparently truly grand. Imagine.............
I hope CA eventually turns around enough to survive — I do know for a fact that the border has been tightened at our southernmost points and that many Mexicans have actually self-deported over the past two years, because of lack of work and fear of the INS thanks to the AZ scenario.
But I also hope that the rest of the country does NOT have to pony up funds to help bail out CA — that would truly be a huge mistake — let it fall, let it fail - then rebuild.
What you conveniently neglect to factor in, is the illegal alien effect. There will not be another cycle, it is going one way and one way only.
Wife and I were born there, we gave up on the state after seeing sales tax pushing 10%, Arnold giving up on reforming the system, the illegal invasion. Left after 59 years.
What you fail to realize is there will never be a pendulum swing again. Will not be possible.

I agree, from the ashes. I think the fed will assist somehow with a settlement for the pension problem. A single payment, a large one that will pennies on the dollar. It’s unfortunate as California needs to burn.
I’m a conservative of modest means. I do have some beautiful property that has been in our family for 4 generations. It’s at the edge of the Sequoia Nat’l forest. I cannot imagine leaving it. (It’s also my well prepared fall-back position).
Our Central Valley is a great place to live and we’ve gone Gault as much often as we can for while now. I’m going ride it out in my California although East Texas look tempting.
I hope to see a new California in 10 years.
Seriously pondering it, it may hasten the BK filing.
Its called open borders and unchecked 3rd world immigration policies.
Nope....not leaving.
There are two things wrong with CA. Liberals and traffic.
But there are countless things right with CA.
I moved here in ‘98 from west TX. (El Paso - which is a cesspool of stupid voters....check the map...there are portions of TX which always run DemoRat)
I love CA. Yes, SF and LA are filled with liberals, but just move westward and conservatives abound.
Plus my hubby has a good job and my son’s career is in LA so we are staying and fighting.
Never surrender!
Well for anyone thinking of moving to Florida {which is where many Cally’s move to as an option} Homes and Condo’s here are very cheap. With so many properties in foreclosure, you can name your price(within reason) In Port Charolette, you could probably steal a decent 2/2 condo for $25,000. Even here in Naples, you can offer $50,000 for a condo owned by a bank, odds are they will take it.(now not the ones on the beach!!!) but in any average neighborhood, you will find many steals, and our economy is great from November through May! thanks to the Lack Of Global Warming.
My contemplation on leaving CA has just taken a turn toward the serious, as I have a pending job offer in Texas. Not too fond of the climate, but I’m VERY fond of having a job and a paycheck. The recruiter is supposed to give me the details of the offer on Monday. I have some things that I wish I weren’t leaving behind here, but everything comes with a price.
50 year so cal native here. How do you define the end? I feel that way myself, but perceive that there never will be a fight at all, just continued decline and decay.
I look forward to a great separation, a new nation, with a re-established American Constitution. I yearn to breathe free.
If any of the Californians are conservative, they are welcome here in CO. We need to take our state back before it’s beyond the point of no return like CA.
Correction for my post #69 on this thread:
Of course I meant move slightly “eastward” and you will find many conservatives.
Not westward.
But if you are a hippie liberal, moving west of SF is a great idea!
