Janis Joplin died at the age of 27, and I think her reputation as a singer is overstated because of her death.
I like Joplin’s music, but I would never in a million years think of her as a serious singer.
I agree. She sounded sloppy, gravel-voiced, undisciplined. I guess if you sound really bad, like Joplin and Bob Dylan, that means you’re good, to some people.
