My goal this year was to learn how to shoot. I’ve done that. Now, I need to buy a gun (or two). It’s an amazing feeling to know you don’t have to be a victim.

You can’t always be there for your womenfolk as quick as you need to be.
They are the ultimate force multiplier in a free society.

The only thing better than women with guns is women with machine guns.

Anyone with the name Paxton Quigley damn well better be armed.
Thank goodness it is a she instead of a he.

Its an amazing feeling to know you dont have to be a victim. Yes, ma'am, it sure is! Get yourself a youth shotgun - at least that works better for short little me -- and a revolver. A dog and an alarm system will buy you the few extra seconds you need as well. Be safe!

ALL of the females in my family, and extended family, are armed, and trained...
I give out pepper spray devices to female friends for Christmas & birthdays regularly...
As Hank Jr. would say...its a 'Family tradition' :)

I really like Paxton Quigley’s first book, “Armed and Female”.
It’s written for women (but there’s lots of great information for anyone new to the world of guns), and makes recommendations of certain brands/models/sizes of guns that are reliable and should be appropriate for a woman’s smaller hands.
I especially like her “intimidation factor” descriptions of certain guns.
I just wish Paxton Quigley would come out with a new, updated edition!!

I especially like her intimidation factor descriptions of certain guns. Any gun has an intimidation factor. In a home invasion, the intruder has no idea what you have unless you fire off a warning shot. Sometimes it's a matter of what a woman can afford and something is better than nothing. The BEST thing is a gun a woman is comfortable with and I've found, not all, but by and large, women are more comfortable with revolvers for carry. Youth or short stock shotguns for home defense. Lots of options. Shop, use your smarts and be comfortable with your weapon.

I took my daughter and her boyfriend to the range this afternoon, his first time. She did her usual good job with her .357 revolver.
“unless you fire off a warning shot”
I advised her that if an intruder was in her apartment, and she determined that s/he/they had no right to be there, IOW, not checking the furnace filters, etc., a warning shot should be placed in the center of body mass, if a head shot wasn’t possible.
Her boyfriend was uncharacteristiclly quiet during the ride home.

‘Comfortable with your weapon’ means practice, practice, practice. Burn some ammo regularly, then clean and reload for stowage.
