I was threatened with being defriended once but I told the person that if they felt that way then go ahead. I have completely civil conversations with very liberal people all the time. I don’t compromise but if nothing else in the end we agree to disagree. Leslie Marshall, the radio host, for example is someone I enjoy debating with we seldom agree but I enjoy it. I like her as a person. I’d never vote for her though. If someone wants to be small then why should I care. I’ve had conservative here be extremely small trying to get people kicked for disagreeing with them. I can say I’ve never tried to do that ever and I’ve never felt the need to de-friend someone. I would if someone was being consistently inappropriate/vulgar/obscene or spamming my wall otherwise I am not offended by different opinions. God knows I’m not afraid to strike out alone based upon what I believe to be true.
I’ve heard this from other Facebookers. Liberals are very intolerant.

I got news for you. My son also got defriended on Facebook for the same reason. This wasn’t just any friend, though. It was his sister.
I have “de-friend” several of my left of center relatives until after the election. After the election I will ask them to be my friend again so I can gloat. Am I 12 or what?
I don’t do politics on Facebook (my band’s account)because I dont know the leanings of our fans there. There is one person who is constantly sounding Democrat talking points and it’s REALLY HARD not to rebut him, but I take a lesson from the Dixie Chinks and don’t piss off half my audience.

Two things - I have a pretty good friend from grad school who complained about the same thing. This guy is smart as a whip when it comes to technical stuff but obviously shouldn’t be allowed to carry sharp objects when it comes to politics. He went on and on about how conservative posts showed up on “his wall” (meaning his news feed) and how it took him 30-60 minutes to calm himself down after this occurred. And seriously - in technical matters this guy is super sharp - and loves sports, beer and all the usual guy stuff. Just a clueless liberal when it comes to politics.
Secondly there is this guy and another individual from grad school. The other one is a girl and she’s not as smart as the guy but much more intolerant. She’s very intolerant politically. At least the guy would debate you.
But both of them - are always asking for “recommendations” as to films, restaurants, house painters and the like.
So it occurred to me - that they must think that they are exemplary open-minded people (in their own mind) since they are always asking for “recommendations”. When, in fact, their brains short-circuit when they encounter political ideas they don’t like.
Not that we don’t all know this - but it’s pretty impressive when you see it in your own friends.
Wear it as a badge of honor, in my opinion! :~D

I am not saddened a bit by this. In fact, I was posting those articles in response to family members who were spewing all this pro-liberal/pro-Obama vile. I was just trying to even the playing field and man, they do not want to play far at all.

Same thing happened to me and an ex girlfriend.
Get this, she was pro Obama, but anti-abortion. I grilled her why she had such conflicting views and it turned out that she supported Obama because he’s black.
I’m glad to be rid of that fickle idiot, to be honest. All she ever did was cause me pain. Not to mention too that she gained so much weight after we broke up.
