I watched a video on ABC (I think it was ABC).
It was clearly a mylar balloon (or maybe more than one), reflecting the sun.

New Yorkers need to get out a little more. Those balloon-like dots are just that - weather balloons.
Ive seen the exact very same things several thousand feet up going over my home on a few occasions. And being I'm a plane watcher, my binoculars are always handy.

I was driving south on Interstate 84 toward Hartford, CT about this time and I recall a few “flashes” in the bright afternoon sun off to my left at an elevation 60 degrees or so above the horizon. I saw no “object” and didn’t pull over to get a better look.
