Sarah Palin has at least 25 ancestors who served in the American Revolution. Are any of them shared? If so, descendants can join the DAR and other lineage societies.

3 of my 4 grandparents had no ancestors in America at the time of the Revolution, but I was able to prove my eligibility based on an ancestor of the 4th grandparent and joined more than 12 years ago.
It’s not required to prove your eligibility based on the male line of ancestry—descent on the maternal side is perfectly acceptable to join the SAR or DAR.
