Hitler at home: Rare photographs show how the Nazi leader relaxed while he waged war
Daily Mail ^ | 25th September 2010

Relaxing with a cup of tea and sharing a joke with a crowd of admiring women - these are the rarely seen intimate portraits of Adolf Hitler at the height of his power.

The snapshots of the dictator were taken between 1936 and 1945 as the Nazi party strengthened its grip on Germany and then waged war against its European neighbours.

In one series of pictures from 1939, Hitler is shown admiring his 50th birthday present - a specially designed convertible VW, which was given to him by Ferdinand Porsche.

He received the glossy black automobile at his Eagle's Nest home in the Alps. The mountain-based chalet was built as a retreat for Hitler and a place for him to entertain visiting dignitaries.

In another set Hitler is seen laughing at a Christmas party in 1941. By this point over 43,000 British civilians had been killed in German bombing raids. The photographs were taken by Hugo Jaeger, who had privileged access to the Fuhrer during those tumultuous years. Jaeger was one of the early adopters of colour photography and created clear, evocative images. Unlike the Nazi leader's main photographer Heinrich Hoffmann, Jaeger took pictures both of both private events and huge propaganda spectacles.

Just to be clear, I didn’t say anything. I posted the picture, which apparently was from a banned source.

interesting footage.

Comments in general (and on the page here in question) show that people don’t realize that the problem with the monsters is that, in the case of charismatic dictators/leaders, they REALLY ARE CHARISMATIC!!. That is a great part of the problem in the first place. (conventional despots that replace a charismatic despot, like Stalin following Lenin, are another matter).

By accounts I have read, Hitler WAS charismatic and popular, and none of this changed the fact that he started world war ii, causing the warfare-related deaths of >10,000,000++ people in addition to another >10,000,000 civilian deaths murdered by his government.

The girl looks like Millie Perkins(Anne)from film “The Diary of Anne Frank”, 1959. Such overtones of depravity...

That girl should not be compared to Anne Frank! If she'd been around Amsterdam in 1944, she'd have ratted Anne Frank out the SS in the interests of political correctness.

Depraved? For sure! But her depravity would not manifest itself until many decades later.

How dare he ever smile, ever. I’d like to blast the smile off his face. Or maybe starve and then gas it off, like he did to my family.
