Yoga is an excellent spiritual exercise no matter what your religion.

Yoga is Sanskrit for Yuj - meaning union with God and there are many forms. Look into it if you care to.

When you get your foot stuck behind your head you are going to regret ever hearing of yoga, let alone worry that it is anti Christian.

For crying out loud. The guy is a nutcase.

The kind of ‘yoga’ practiced around the USA is just slow calisthenics with some Sanskrit/Hindi jargon thrown in to make it seem exotic.

IMO, if one is convicted in their conscience that yoga is bad for them, then they shouldn’t do it (I’m one of them). God deals with each of us differently, and if there is no conviction that it is wrong, then it is not wrong.

Our personal experiences/history determines a lot of what is bad or good for us to engage in individually (conscience-wise)...... God knows.... that’s one of the major reasons that it is wrong to judge others... We don’t know their relationship with the Lord.

Just call it “stretcing” and don’t worry about it.

If Albert Mohler is right, God makes you practice yoga, or not. Predestination. If God predestines you to be a pretzel, a pretzel you will choose to be, and you cannot stop it.

Think of it as ‘irresistible pain’...

When I went to India, the Christians there actually went out of their way to tell me that Yoga was incompatible with Christ. Dr. Mohler is not saying something new. They are not stupid or ignorant. They simply accept that yoga has a spiritual element that is not of Christ.

Yoga is no more a threat to one's Christian beliefs than is Judo. There are elments of the spiritual in both but there is no religion involved.

Why does this sound so much like a discussion of Harry Potter books?

As with anything done without the power of the Holy Spirit, it is just exercise and mechanical. Fasting while praying and meditating on the Word (actually thinking about God as David did) is a spiritual discipline blessed by God with an intimacy and communion not experienced by the unbeliever.

Albert Mohler is no nutcase. He is very sound and if you listened to his radio program you would be better informed about current issues of the day. I haven’t read the whole article but I bet you detractors have not either. I am familiar with him and he is good.

I’m a devout Catholic and went to one Yoga exercise class. I happened to mention this to my neighbor in passing, and she excoriated me that I was going against my religion. I had no idea that this was the case, and looked upon it as only a mental and physical exercise for relaxation.
