At his press conference, the first one in half a year among Barack Hussein Obama was seen not to be wearing his gold wedding band. Reason? Could it be that Muslims are not allowed to wear jewelry during Ramadan?
I looked at quite a lot of speculation on the Internet. As always, there is a lot of static mixed in with a little bit of commentary, from both sides. Isn't it extremely odd that he suddenly shows up not wearing a wedding ring? Doesn't he know that this will open him up to a lot of speculation? Demand has a tin ear, politically -- but we already all knew this didn't we?

Have quite a few ramadan-observers at work, and they all have get-arounds to the ‘rules’.
Some of the males ignore it completely, all the women fast except the ones on medication or their monthly cycle but everybody is wearing their jewelry.
Arabs wear 21KT gold, not the 18KT stuff we wear.
If true, that’s a shame for the kids.
Yes, I see that picture them eating ice cream together. I have seen many pictures of them eating ice cream together. Doesn’t everyone find this very strange? Does that not count as food if during Ramadan in the daytime you eat ice cream but never go to a restaurant for a sitdown meal? I have kids — I never fed them so much ice cream in my life as he seems to feed his. I thought the Obama family was worried about obesity? They don’t seem to be worrying about it in this photo.
And by the way I have another question that I have been asking since 2008 — why do both of his children have Russian names?
And please don’t tell me that Malia is a Hawaiian name — when I first googled it in 2008, I found 10 pages of responses all telling me that it was a Russian name.
Now, when I google it in 2010, I can’t find a single hit telling me that it is a Russian name but, and oh what a miracle it is, it has now become a Hawaiian name. Isn’t that lucky? Isn’t that fortunate? I am still looking for a Russian to ask...
I know several Iraqi Muslim families. They celebrate birthdays and buy gifts for their kids.
Well that’s true. I assume it is because they are not so hyper religious as some others are.
But you do know, don’t you, that the Obama family is very very well known for smugly announcing that they do not give birthday gifts to their children, and they do not give Christmas gifts to their children nor do they give them to each other?

Yes, there are many Ramadan watchers out there, speculating and analyzing, and getting out those workarounds. that is true.
But if there hadn’t been so many indications, outright provocations, outright boasting and bragging about how he loves Muslims for the last three years, then all this wouldn’t be happening and it wouldn’t be necessary.
Remember when he had to cover up all the Christian symbols at Georgetown University? Who in the world would ever think of something like that, unless he was a Muslim? I certainly wouldn’t think of it — it would never occur to me, and I think it would never occur to all other politicians — only this one in all of America only this one.
