Go to Facebook. Type "Natasha" into the search box. Select 'People.' Then sit back in stunned amazement that there are a lot of young African American women named 'Natasha.'
Heck, arguably the most prominent young black superheroine in comic books is named Natasha.
But hey, if you'd rather fantasize that Obama is secretly a Russian spy who, as part of his cover, named his daughter after pop culture's most famous female Russian spy, knock yourself out. You can even claim that he was being extra sneaky because it's a name given to a lot of young black girls.
Because yeah, the Russian thing makes SOOOOO much more sense than 'Her parents liked the name.' It's not clunky or conspiratorial or unnecessarily complicated in the slightest.

Well, I will try to answer your sneering mocking post as politely as I can.
I repeat: many many people have said the same thing that I wrote here — why does this man have two Russian names for his daughters?
When I googled it extensively in 2008, for each name, I could find no other references except for Russian references. Now, the Internet says differently and in fact one of the names suddenly seems to be Sasha rather than Natasha.
It seems to me that he has an affinity for Soviet Russia.
You, on the other hand, seem to think that he reads and likes comic books — a character that I have never heard of, and while that name may be much more popular, now after Obama has become famous, I wonder how popular it was before — but you may indeed be right, he just may be stupid enough to name his child after a cartoon character.

Can you name any other single politician in America, and his or her Chief of Staff’s name, where the above statement of fact applies?
Let me see: radical committed Marxist with two children with Russian names, where the parents have met each other in Russian language class — do you think it possible or likely that these things go together?

I'm sorry, but I appear to have been unclear. See the Facebook pointer that you skipped over entirely? That was to point out that Natasha is not an uncommon name for young black girls. The comic book footnote was not to suggest that Barack was inspired by said character; it was to make the EXACT SAME POINT that Natasha is not an uncommon name for African American girls.
I'm not sure how you failed to put that together, but hopefully we're on the same page now.

Birtherism's provided me with a lot of wacked-out wingnutty and tin-foil-hatty theories, but THAT may just take the cake. 'Convicted fraudster obtains secret Kenyan birth certificate' doesn't hold a candle to this. Even the 'Teenage Obama confessed his Kenyan birth to me' story pales in comparison to this bit of fantasy.
It's not even good as fiction. Fife makes one of the same mistakes that Bannon made, and he compounds it further. Namely, in the course of claiming that some civilian Russian wife was privy to a plethora of details about a long-term Soviet plan to plant a Manchurian candidate in the Oval Office (wait...I need to pause to laugh more at how stupid this is...OK...I'm good), he claims that said housewife practically rattled off Obama's entire biography up 'til that point. It's not enough that she said there'd be a black Communist; no, she gave his name AND his parents' races AND nationalities AND his college status, just so there's no ambiguity for storytelling purposes. Yeesh.
I suppose I should take some solace in the fact that unlike so many other Birther rumors, this one seems to have died a fairly swift death. Which means that even as other stupid rumors manage to propagate, this rumor is just TOO stupid to live.
