Now I've seen numerous threads and statements saying that we shouldn't burn the Koran.
And while a few of them have mentioned respect for another religion and that kind of thing, ALL OF THEM have focused on the same hypothetical: If you burn it, they will kill us. (Or somebody).
So my question is exactly what is the difference between what is now being talked about, and say for instance a Muslim father goes to his daughter and tells her "If you hold that boys hand we will have an honor killing and hang you from a tree."
I recall back to the days when people were burning the American flag, and there was a strong movement to ban it. Don't get me wrong here. But my feelings about this subject are that I would NEVER burn an American flag (with the exception that burning a flag is considered to be the proper disposal of a torn one) EXCEPT about the time the government commands me that I can't do it, I would say "Fire up the grill!!"
Sorry about the vanity, but I am seriously worried that this is not just a little bit of incremental sliding PC bullcrap, we are seeing some kind of fundamental change here.
What's to stop any group anywheres in the world from making demands and having some unspoken but implied threat against Americans, and expecting we will bow down again?
“incremental sliding PC bullcrap” [Spot on!]
Regarding the esteemed General Petraeus and the Ground Zero Mosque:

“General Petraeus Badly Betrayed by Anti-Mosque Bigots (Who are ... movers in the campaign against the ground zero mosque just happen to be ...” [snip]
The general is scared of us opposing the infernal mosque. So how much should we allow the good general to compromise everything this war stands for?
Should we start modifying our cartoons? Should we allow them to build a mosque on the White House lawn? Where the frigging heck does it END???!!!
One point I do wish that pastor Terry Jones should vow straight up and flat out that if the mosque plan is abolished, no korans are burned. He needs to offer that to make himself more reasonable.
“Just stay off the news before you do it.”
And Obama wants us to post in spiral notebooks rather than online. Kool.
“I would like for you to find out who put it in the news”
I have no idea.
“And Obama wants us to post in spiral notebooks rather than online. Kool”
I’m not sure where you are going with that..
I agree with you on this one and action just to demonstrate an opinion that gets a single American hurt is just thick headed conceit.
These people are irrational stone age barbarians and we shouldn’t justify actions like these because they do.
This Muslim problem will be handled but not by burning their hateful books.
In the end, Americans will act in a terminal fashion if we feel America is in serious jeopardy. In the meantime, I believe we should make our feelings heard but keep on the high road.
I can see your point about if the mosque plan being aboished, no korans are burned.
But in my mind, this is kind of what’s going on. It used to be if there was international friction of some sort, one country might say “Well, we’re gonna boycott you”. Or maybe “If you do that, we will close your military bases in our country”.
You know what I mean, that sort of thing.
But MAKE NO MISTAKE!! That IS NOT what is happening now.
They are saying “If you do this, we will kill you!”
Am I the only one who wants to reply “Bring it on, sucka!!”
Fundamentally, that is what we are dealing with here. A group that allows no dissent. No variation at all. No thinking for yourself.
Robots!! That’s all we would be! Little scared Islamic robots!!
Am I the only one who sees this?
I just don’t think this action makes us any better than them. If I don’t blacks should I openly plan to burn rap cd’s and kwanza masks? If I don’t like jews should we burn menorahs or the torah? Let’s be the great people we are and not play down to their level.
[BTW, I was misinformed — if General Petraus said anything about the mosque, I haven’t found it.]
I think the root point of rage is the Ground Zero Mosque. It’s an outrage and cowardice to allow it to be constructed. While I personally think burning the koran betrays all muslims who are fighting on our side, the blame of this outrage belongs on Bloomberg. He pushed people too far.
If “Honor killings” of their own children is the result, if stoning people to death is the result, if murdering people who think differently from them is the result, then hell no, I don’t want to read the foul thing.
By their fruits you may know them...
I agree, but what did the Ruling Class expect? They tell us to allow that Victory Mosque to be built, and they actually, honestly, stupidly thought it would improve relations? Hah! It’s their fault. It’s Bloomberg’s fault; it’s Obama’s fault. They are pitiful leaders.
I agree these people are incompatable with our way of life and intend to destroy us from within but isn’t it like getting the gamebook from the opposing team in football. If you know the plan ahead of time isn’t it easier to STOP them?
The hate from them as the result of the cartoons and the surprise at our opposition to the ground zero mosque are working in our favor. More people are waking up to their true motives and that is a good thing because this is OUR holy war and we need all Americans on our side to win.
Don’t misunderstand, I would deport every last one of them yesterday. My Children have the right to live in the same Country I grew up in, islam is a cancer that we can not allow to gain power under sharia law.
BTTT !!!!!!!!! PING!!!!!!!!
“expecting we will bow down again?”
Wouldn’t “groveling” be more accurate than “bow down”?
The point that most are making here, is ? yes, Know thy enemy, but, you can’t expect us all to be reading the UNHOLY Koran.... nope, I refuse to read that crap.
