None of us should burn a koran, or any book for that matter. We should all have access to every available text ever written and be able to make up our own minds about it.
Sure, I understand that the pending koran burning is a political statement more than an action to rid the world of the stupid book. But it sends the wrong message.
I WANT people to read this book, to truly understand its message. Taken in the context of modern events no sane person could possibly take the koran seriously. Imagine if more people had read "Mien Kampf" or the "Communist Manifesto." Imagine if in 1900 "Das Kapital" was required reading. How many lives could have been saved?
So instead of burning this stupid book we should be encouraging people to read it. READ the koran, and try to UNDERSTAND it. Only then will people know its true and terrifying nature.
I will burn any damn book I want thank you
A Job for George W. Bush America needs a president with the moral authority to denounce Koran-burning. By James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal, 09-07-10 |
Sure, but we have one extra that no one is reading, so we can burn that one.
LOL
I actually agree that no book should be burned, yet I defend their right to make this stand without being threatened or God forbid, killed.
We shouldn’t burn the Koran because we’ll need them for warmth after a few more months of Obamanomics.
This is a Freedom of Navigation exercise.
Besides, it’s high time that sleeping Westerners wake up and realize that Islam is the enemy of the West - always has been, always will be.
Nice try...Yes, it does send a message and an appropriate one when you consider the source. Now, you have to decide whether this is a good idea or not - and most would take the cowards way out.
The group that decides to actually do this is not only courageous but does seem to hold up the American ideals - regardless of faiths. Yes, this is provocative, but isn’t it time?
This is the true test of whether there are any “moderate” muslims. You know, the one’s that are offended, but don’t support MURDER.
This isn’t about burning a book. It’s about “picking a fight”. Since 9/11 we’ve been pussy-footing around about exactly who our enemy is. And this has allowed moderate Muslims — if there are any — to sit out the fight and openly sympathize with their more radical brethren. This has got to stop.
There are probably several copies out there so I wouldn’t worry about it.
James Taranto is pro-open borders and is anti-borther - F him.
Burn it IMO.
Pictures of their pedophile leader (piss be upon him) should also be burned IMO.
They are not beyond responses to their cult’s actions IMO.
I am not burning any books, but I would never waste my time
reading this book. I can watch the people who profess to have read it and understand it and believe it and that is enough for me.
Amen.
The message here should be that in the United States of America, you have the right to burn any damned book you please.
actually, it send the right message. let someone try to burn the koran in the 57 Islamic states.
Should we be more worried about defeating our f**king enemies instead of playing politically correct pattycake with them?!?!?!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
‘Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God’ (1Cor.10:320
Its not a path I would've chosen, but burn the damn thing if you want. Its a wonderful country.
