I have probably read “Wasp” by Eric Frank Russell 10 times.

Wasp is an excellent book; EFR is greatly underappreciated. Lots of SciFi folks like to blabber about Heinlein and Asimov ... I found EFR, E. E. "Doc" Smith and H. Beam Piper far more interesting.

Agreed. If I read fiction (which is very rarely anymore, I do read several hours on FR per day, and usually a non-fiction book or two a month), it’s not usually SciFi, but if it is, I enjoy a good 2-3,000 page, multi-volume, “Space Opera”, but even those have gone downhill over time. I think an overall lack of writing skills has been plaguing the U.S., and the World at large, for some time.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Not when text messaging, twitter and Facebook make up the entire written correspondence most people have these days. I find it sad that so much is being lost, from journaling/record keeping, to literature. People are too caught up in the idols of the world (double entendre alert). I haven’t had a Working TV in about 3 years, and only for 1 year of the last 8. TV was a great invention, but it’s being used as a tool of evil, IMHO.

P.S. Last I’ve read, less than 1/100th of 1% (1 in 10K) people in the U.S. who are literate, read ONE Book a year or more. In L.A. County, it’s something around half (IIRC 46%) of all people are functionally illiterate. I read it a few years ago though. It’s insane. A nation of laws MUST have a nation of literate, learned people, not TV zombies.

I just realized how horrible this previous post was, haha. Well, that’ll teach me to type in a hurry, without looking!

Hallelujiah! I do recall “Newton”, now that I see it.

This has been torturing me, so many thanks to all, and cookies to everybody :-)

I hated that series. Too depressing, start to finish. I didn’t think the ending made up for the pain and anguish of all six books.
